Hi all

My front discs started scoring and making a scraping sound when braking. Sound went away when warmed up. Removed pads and still some meat on them but discs were getting thin so replaced discs and pads with new items. Still getting scraping sound :/

I took a photo as they don’t look right, that grey mark around the disc, and some of the disc is missed. Is this normal? I can’t recall if the pads have a “shoulder” from new and that’s the bit that’s missing the disc. Photo is about 40 miles old.

Items look correct, pads are brembo P85126

Car is 2014 A3 2.0 TDI 184bhp

It all started after the “beast from the east 2”, not sure if cold weather and salt would be the cause. Confused :(

Thanks!

Best to check fitment, pull pads out & have a look at wear, but tbh you cant really fit them wrong.

Who fit the brakes pads ? They look like they’ve been installed the wrong way round by looking at how the pad is in contact with the disc. They would be working backward which is why they would be making a noise.

What are you seeing to assume the pads are the wrong way ?

Needs to bed in properly. 40 miles is no where near enough, try 200 miles.

You are seeing the disc coating wearing through as the new pad makes contact / slowly beds in with it.

Pads look ok to me. Same as our GTD Caliper set up below.

Ignore my now deleted comments if you saw them - it's clear from T1000's photo that the pad is in correctly.

Pics are clear enough, fitted fine as T1000 states, 40 miles isnt much tbh, so yeah few hundred.
