RSQ3 RSQ3

You sound just like me Alan. I've moved on far too many cars for the wrong reasons and plenty for the right ones too I might add!
I don't think that perfect car exists, they all have pluses and minuses, its just down to weighing up the whole package and getting the sweet spot right.
I don't think any of my pals believe me when I say this RSQ3 is staying for a long while.....but that is my intention.
It really is greater than the sum of its parts:icon thumright:

And the thing is, some just suit you and some, despite getting rave reviews just dont. I had a lovely (petrol) SQ5, did everything I wanted, but I'd always had a dream to have an M car, and especially an M5. When I saw the last of the non Comp M5s for sale at silly money I jumped. And then got rid of it after 11 months! It wasnt the cars fault, it was great - but a saloon didnt really work with a dog who was with me a fair few long journeys. it was big in car parks and in slow traffic / in town and a bit raw and racey when I just wanted to potter around....

So it went and I replaced it with another Audi, that sort of split the difference a bit. And now I am very happy and plan to keep this one for a while....

But we always say that!

And thats the conundrum, how do we truly know what will fill our needs and satisfy our lust until we actually own it!

Well a test drive might have been a good idea, maybe even just sitting in one...

(although I gambled with the RS4 and bought that blind as well, on the basis that it wouldnt be too different to an SQ5!)

Haha.....I bought and paid for the RSQ3 before seeing it too or had I ever driven one.....The train journey and 250 mile drive home was so worth it though.

I love the day trip fetching them, have to avoid the urge for another one soon!

Mine was a trip and a half.....was so worth it though

Ju - I think with a little gentle encouragement we could coax isleaiw over to something really special??

I think an M5 and an RS4 are pretty special. Next will be my retirement present possibly, which may be a camper van!

I've had 2 SUVs now and neither have been my thing..... although my daughters new GLE350d is a bit of a beast...

Camper van...oh no! I've never driven one that didn't rattle or squeak - and that's before you put personal kit in.

Don't mind me I'm just sowing seeds...one day you'll see one and think "I don't like SUVs but on the other hand I could go and see what captivates those teasing blighters!".

There is a good chance i will have another SUV, the chances are it will be in place of the Mini as my run around car, maybe a Tesla Model Y....

And yes, I am sure they wont be the most refined thing ever but for me and the dog and weekends away I will manage! By the time I retire I will have had enough of smart hotels (my day job...)

I recall your field was hospitality... One of the best things about the new world and no travel is not having 100+ different hotel rooms every year, can't say I'm missing it or would seek it in retirement either or getting on a plane twice a week either...every cloud and all that!

I am kind of hoping that not everyone thinks like you and some cant wait to get back to travelling and staying in our hotels.... although the reality is we dont expect to hit 2019 numbers again until 2024/5!

I plan on doing driving holidays in the nice car when time allows....

We are in the same boat, the company I work for does Revenue Management (effectively pricing) solutions with considerable interests in the travel space - more than 100 airlines plus major destinations and the world's largest car-hire business along with normal B2B business. The B2B bit is mega busy, the rest - less so.

Ah, we are apparently looking at putting a new RMS system in - funny, as the one we put in 4 years ago was going to change the world! And now the one we want to put in is so good they cant even get contract commercials out to us in the time they said!

Retirement is good, I can reliably say now having had 12-year experience of!

But having something to do; a task each day; a pub lunch - maybe a 100-miles away somewhere; an ASN game/project; an 'older' AUDI car (or two/three), and home every night in yer own bed is pure joy!!! :yahoo:

Look forward to it guys, start planning now...

If I havent started planning it by 57 its going to be a long and boring retirement!

I might work for a hotel company but I still love waking up somewhere different and going out exploring the locality so I really dont want to be waking up in my own bed every day. I am also single so different beds can have alternative meaning!

A decent car for roadtrips, a camper for long weekends, a chance to try nice hotels and nice culture and food (and wine) whilst having a passive income that comes in without me doing much, that's the plan!

Sounds good to me

Doesn't seem 2 minutes since you got it. I know peoples driving habits have taken a different route now but still?

Had it for 18 months Ju. New kitchen extension helped decide sale, plus got a price that was hard to refuse.

Nothing replacing it at the moment, so we just have the 2020 Cooper S for now

I'm trying to decide when the best time is to buy another house, lets hope Rishi bins off the stamp duty holiday so prices fall away a bit!

The house buying dilemma is tricky, I suspect that the furlough schemes are masking the true state of the economy and many people won't have jobs to go back to when the schemes are wound down. Here in the Midlands we have JLR's HQ and design centres - they have just announced 2,000 redundancies - in the 'white collar' end of the business...in the space of 3 days 14 pages of houses on the Rightmove website appeared within a 15 mile radius of the Gaydon HQ. The housing market is fragile and I suspect prices are going to fall.

I think after the rises in 2020 it was bound to settle back a bit on ending of Stamp Duty holiday. I think that combined with the ending of support at some stage in 2021 will mean a bit more of a fall. Hoping at that stage my son can get on the ladder and I can get another rental property, and I can focus on the benefits and not how much existing property has fallen!

My neighbour put his Cotswold stone cottage up for sale, and had 6 offers at and above asking price within days, two weeks later searches all done and new owners looking to complete ASAP.

They bought for £400k 5 years ago and asking price was £630k. Not sure what they got in the end (not really my place to ask) but suffice to say it was north of the asking price.

Prices have definitely gone mad, at least out here in the Cotswolds.

Hmm, may finish my building works, sell, buy a caravan and a sports car

Wow, there is going to be a lot more of that sadly....tough times ahead

Its all the city types (all cities) moving out as they will never return to 5 days a week in the office, blah blah, work from home and go in as needed, better quality of life. I give it 3 years before they are all looking to get closer to work as commuting in 2 or 3 days a week is a pain!

That might be wishful thinking as I live on a commuter line into London but might be ready to sell and give up the rat race in 3 years time!

Changed the badges to black, apart from the RS grill badge as they don't do an oem one.
Not sure I actually like the look if I'm honest as the front grill looks like its missing something?
Maybe it'll grow on me

Think it looks good Ju Swmbo has black badges which were fitted to her Q3 black edition when we bought it,look much better I think. I’d do it to mine, but as I have the extended matt aluminium pack on my RS,I don’t think it’d look right, need the black pack, like yours & hers

I think I need to source a black RS grill badge thats not oem because I don't think the RSQ3 badge from the new model will look right even if modified to fit.
I agree, it needs the black pack to work:thumbs up:

Mine has the black badges from new, as it’s white I really like the contrast, as with yours. Not sure it works on some of the darker colours.
