So after spending a hour on the phone to Audi and them suggesting a factory reset , they confirm that some software isn’t installed correctly.
To add insult to injury I can’t get the key user reinstalled now.

Basically if you have the Oct 19 software you won’t get that screen. I’ve been on the phone for hours to Audi digital and they told me I need the Oct 20 update. They even told me to try a factory reset that logged me out the key user settings and now I’m stuffed.I’ve followed all the steps they suggest and now I’m locked out of Audi connect and they don’t know how to sort it
I know someone who was getting help setting up his S3, they ******** it up and he was left with a half working MMI... he ended up dropping the keys back and walking off.
I'm worried their experts are not sure what is going on and seem to be making it up

I’m afraid that If your car is built in September like mine we’re stuck with a book that shows one thing and a car that has software that doesn’t match. The book has a printed date of Aug 20 but the software is Oct 19.
My car is back at the dealership today for a software update that has been sent from Audi in Germany for them to “ try “ but I’m not holding much hope out. Last time it was in they basically told me the software it’s installed with at the factory is what we get. All updates are specific to the chassis number is what they said.
I’ll let you all know later if anything is different when I collect the car.

I've spoken with the salesman that sold me the car, he just pointed me in the direction of the service team, whom i'll be ringing shortly.

Just took a call from the dealer and they installed the software they were told to but nothing has changed, they have 4 cars there at present all built around the same time as mine and all the others have the different screen. I asked them to compare software versions to mine and then install that version and they said I have the same version already.
So basically it’s been with them twice now and no progress. looks like I’m going have to live with what’s installed as I can’t keep having days off work and not be with the car.

My software version is 27th May 2020 (built End of October/1st week November) and I can swipe left, have that screen and wireless apple carplay
I've heard of August 2020 software as well - I can't understand why a car has software dated Oct 2019, when the car wasn't even available to order until March 2020 and August for the S3 it makes no sense and I'm sorry it must be able to be updated - Lots of technology has firmware updates.

Which dealer are you using? I'm assuming that to get this update from Germany they must have been in touch with the factory??
There has to be a solution if other cars of the same age have the option!
I think it's in the settings or Car and then there is a software version option, can't remember exactly as hardly used the car and not familiar with the settings fully.

Seems crazy, that my car being a launch edition, doesn't have the latest software loaded!
I know, these are the dealer demonstrators and should be as up to date as possible when they are built.

Dealer now thinks it hardware as opposed to software.
To be fair they are saying the cars are that new they are still learning what is installed and what is not.
They will ring me back in a few days time when they have more information.
I get the feeling my car was built on cross over dates of software and hardware and nothing can be done.

So there lies the issue.
I'll get my dealer to do the update and see if it resolves the issue (probably not!)
If it is hardware then I will be taking it up with Audi directly.
I think it is crazy that you can spend £42k on a launch edition car, delivered 31/01/2021 and it doesn't have the latest version of software / hardware!!!
Surely Audi must be expecting some customer / dealer backlash?
I will take it further than my dealer if required!
I don’t think it’s the snapshot that’s the problem, it the version that needs to be the later version.
I can’t keep having time off work getting my mrs to pick me up from the dealers because there’s no courtesy cars being loaned just to have another page on the MMI
it’s not the end of the world for me I’m happy with the car overall , for me I much prefer this to the 2016 car I traded in.

So on that basis the hardware is the same, just different versions of the software.
Therefore surely must be fixable!!!
Congrats on the new car, it looks amazing. You will soon discover that the software is terrible on the new A3 models. I am having issues with many things as well. The dealership said the same old "It's audi germany and we can't do much about it"
So, car's been at the dealers all day, and still is!
Having a software update, but they don't seem confident the issue will be resolved; let's see what tomorrow brings.
Going off topic, but worth mentioning:-
- Both the rear disks are 2/3rds rusted over, only the inner 1/3rd is clean, outer 2/3rds covered in rust, car has only done 150 miles, looks as though the rear pads haven't been seated correctly or some fault within the rear hydraulics - anyone else had this issue.
- Also driving the car to the dealer this morning with the sat nav on the main screen in satellite mode, when suddenly the top quarter of the screen had a large blue line come across it!!! Any ideas??

My S3 8Y has been in Wolverhampton Audi all day to find out why I could only use one phone at a time, two phones are connected but only able to have one live, has anyone with the later software got this issue

I have the same issue and wasn't sure whether I was meant to be able to take calls.
My dealer keeps fobbing me off with excuses at the moment.
While I'm liking the drive, the software and systems are leaving much to be desired. I think my wife's Ford EcoSport does some of the basic things better

Damn straight, I traded an 8V S3 which had loads more settings and did two phones, it looks to me that they have just bunged the basic system from the A3 as the only S logo is on the steering wheel, things like *button options are absolutely useless, no S3 Splash screen and no sport screen on the Virtual Cockpit, The missus wanted me to have the AMG 35, wish I had!

Mine works like this too, you have to manually select which phone you want to use from the virtual cockpit right?
It doesn't feel like an active-active setup.
Echo your thoughts on the S3 feel like they've purposefully kept the goodies for the vorsprung.
