Q8 Q8 to Q3 Sportback

Well after the new rules about no new petrol and diesel cars being sold in the UK after 2030 I reckon the Q8 will lose it's value steeply in the same way the A8 does.

To be fair, most large SUV’s particularly with larger engines seem to suffer more residual-wise. Like range rovers lose shedloads the 1st couple or 3 years, so wouldn’t worry specifically about Q8, bit it is niche
Let's not lose sight of the fact that the 2030 date is a political policy statement, aspirational, there will be at least one change of government before then, maybe even two. Add to that the lack of infrastructure for mass adoption of EVs, a lot has to change before then against a background of the treasury haemorrhaging money on C19.
Environmentally, the fickle pendulum of eco-friendly favour has swung away from diesel so residuals are going to take a panning, reflected in a steady decline in new sales, it seems used diesels are also less popular, petrol (unless you have an RS and need 98+!) is also often cheaper these days. Proceed with caution.

That's true. 10 years does fly by quick though.
Range rovers. Those cars I've read that they seem the easiest to break into. Loads of reports of those cars being stolen during the UK lockdown. (Going a bit off topic)
Oh you need to own a JLR product once in your life - getting to know the dealer's service staff is lovely. Stick with an Audi and you keep a car that was developed by Audi R&D alone, buy JLR and you'll be helping their R&D 
Nope. Salesman gave me the link to the tracker but it's the Irish one so doesn't work! I know the UK one isn't working either. Might contact them this week, or Audi CS. Suspecting it will be Feb earliest though looking at other posts on here and elsewhere. It is what it is, as can't do anything about it!

Even though the UK is currently in lockdown has your car been built yet or is it still being built at the moment?

Apparently 45tfsi models not been built lately - you can't configure one on the Audi site currently either - but due to start again next week. Dealer hoping mine's one of these getting built which I'd hope as it's been 10 weeks since I ordered it. If so then should be with them mid Feb which will probably mean I'll wait until March for the plate change. Due to have it ceramic coated before pick up but with lockdown doubt I can get that done which is unfortunate but not a big issue all things considered.

Mine also waiting to be ceramic coated and I had it at beginning of Nov. Mind its also waiting to be introduced to water so I'm not inflicting damage on the paint in the meantime...
It is doing a fair impression of a drive ornament too....
Ah that sucks that it hadn't been built yet but on the positive side at least the Q3 will sport the 21 reg plate. Hopefully once the lockdown eases in the future the Q3 will be a better car for you. Out of curiosity will your Q3 have 4 zone climate control?Not built
Don't think so, it's 2 zone I believe - like the Q8 to be fair. Although the S4 I had before that was 3 zone as standard.
Yup,F3 Q3 is 2 Zone - and an all round cracking car too.
The frustrating aspect of having a car built in the late spring on any year is being just a few weeks away from the change over to the following model year - around week 22 they will start building MY22 I expect....not that I've read anything at all about any changes to the range.

I wonder if there is going to be a facelift version of this car this year or if it will be next year as we're approaching the halfway mark of the car design.
There isn't anything on the tinternet that I can find, there are curious omissions in the Q3 spec that one could see being fixed at some point i.e.
1) Memory seats option
2) Head up display

You have misunderstood the post. Right now, neither of those options are available on F3 Q3, were there to be some sort of facelift and Audi sought to differentiate the MY change then these, might, be possible contenders.
I have to say the 2020 Q3 Vorsprung 45 Sportback was one of the most boring cars we have ever owned. poor dash, handling, performance just so dull it had to go.

The Q3 was mainly my wife’s car and replaced an S3 (2018) we’ve now got a TTS and my RS4.
That’s not necessarily the case. Had a good 2015 A3 COD, son has Polo 1.2, Daughter has Golf TDI, all were/ are great cars. The Q3 we had was really boring to the extreme. My sons 7 year old Polo was more fun!
The F3 Q3 is quite a heavy vehicle to drag around with 230PS.
The F3 RS derivative is a more comprehensive all round package, getting on for twice the power and so much more more driver focussed with an ability to control the sensitivity of the Haldex, i.e., lowered with enhanced handling through firmer dampers and spring rates together with a different virtual cockpit and finally a sound track to match. Not much not to like....well it drinks Super+ like the tank has leak...
I’m sure the RSQ3 is a better car but it’s still got the horrible dashboard and SUV height and poorer handling. I can’t see any appeal over a regular RS3 which I have also owned. Minimal extra space. If you need more room the B9 RS4 is a cracking car .
I've owned a B9 RS4 - it everything really well with all the fun of driving a high performance car engineered out of it - most likely DRC being the culprit. Performance was OK, it never really felt that quick because, again it was so competent you couldn't get anywhere close to being a little bit scared - other than the brakes were OK rather than outstanding - like the 8 Pot Brembos in an 8U RSQ3 that I'd (stupidly) traded. On paper the 450PS RS4 is quick - however there wasn't any drama and that's supposed to be standard for an Audi RS.
The interior design was a low point in Audi's MMI evolution, an iPad stuck to the dash and a set of controls that would work well in a LHD drive car for a right handed driver. Programming Nav was dreadful - I'm in IT, technology orientated in the extreme and intuitive it was not. I see the B9.5 took a positive step in the right direction with a similar system to that which is in the F3 Q3 which is fabulous to use - voice commands work very well indeed.
The F3 RSQ3 isn't perfect but is a really great fun car to own - it isn't a hot hatchback like an RS3 low to the floor, one reaches a point in life where getting out of a low car physically hurts and now I prefer the slightly increased ride height. An RSQ3 actually handles exceptionally well - stays flat through the corners and defies the fact that it has a higher centre of gravity. Part of the fun of RSQ3 ownership is that ability to blast down the straights, shed speed for the bends and blast out of the corners with that 5 pot soundtrack to match.
We all like different things and cars perform different functions depending where we are in our lives.

in terms of getting into a car a lower car is far easier. My old Mum much preferred dropping into my wife’s TT than the Q3 and once in far more comfortable.
As for the B9.5 upgrade to touchscreen stuff, I absolutely hate it. Love iPad and iPhone touchscreen but not in a car. Very much familiar with MMI. Maybe I’m just an agile old fart!

^^^^ this may be the case, but it’s a WHOLE lot harder to get out of TT than a Q3, or other SUV!!
Not so far to fall! Mates relative broke her arm falling out of a Disco! Seriously the entry/exit issues are well known with elderly/infirm people but generally not an issue in a normal car. I had a 9o year old walk into an S3 Cabriolet with the hood down, they sat down and then the roof was put up, exiting was the opposite. Far easier than any non convertible car.
The access challenge with cabrios is the width of the sills (or rocker panels as our US friends call them). The sills are beefy box sections to retain body shell stiffness - add to the mix larger side bolsters on the seats then passengers need long legs to have a chance of getting into the seats with any degree of decorum.
Back when I had a series of A4 Cabrios (3) and an A5 Cab my 4' 10" mothers entry and exit technique was almost comical.

I hadn’t noticed any difference in seats in a cab vs non cab nor in fact sill width on modern cabs.
Well she's landed...........you may have noticed it's not quite as planned in colour!!! Long story but the ordered Daytona Grey car wasn't going to land until October This one was on the ferry if I wanted it..................which I did! Really love the colour and happy it worked out this way. Early days but really pleased with the car, it seems to exactly what I hoped it would be
