Dashcam recommendation

As per title, any recommendations on what to get, hard wire or plug in.

Mine are hard wired.
I think they do a plug in harness also.

I have the Nextbase 612gw.
It’s 4K and has good night vision.
You can get a hard wire kit to piggyback off a fuse but I used the cigarette adapter from under armrest and hid the wire under the car mats and up behind the pillar trim, didn’t even have to remove the pillar trim.
So it starts recording as soon as ignition is on.

I bought a DDPai mini 3 off AliExpress for around £50 and I’m well impressed with it. Picture quality and features are superb. I find it hard to justify spending way more on a black vue after using this cam.

I got front&back Thinkware Q800 Pro and it is brilliant.
Hardwire kit included in the box for parking mode. Very much needed nowadays.
Quick install and was up and running for less than 2years now

Nice thing about the DDPai hardware kit for around £15 is that is has built in battery voltage protection that you can set in the app. No extra module needed like blackvue and it works well and is dead easy to fit, and comes with 6 fuse taps (2 in each size). The cams also have a built in memory, so no SD card purchase needed. The mini 3 I have is 2K and they now make a Mini 5 which is 4k. They are really small too, nearly invisible if installed up by the headliner.

The only think I think the expensive Korean cams do better is motion activated parking protection. These cheaper Chinese cameras do have 1 sec time lapse of full on recording though, but the impact activation has to be quite hard for it to turn on, and there is no motion sensors. Works fine for popping into the shops withe camera left running, and time lapse would certainly do a full work day recording on the car battery, anything more more and you might consider a Cellinik Neo battery so you can record for a full day, and probably a couple days on timelapse. Again I can't see the expensive cameras offering that much more really.

Thanks mate, quite surprising how many cheaper cams they are and a decent spec. Looked at the DDPai 5 and it is on my shortlist.

I’m following to! Always thought £200-300 was a lot for a decent and hidden Dashcam install; but then always thought how much I need one when there’s been a close call with people suddenly changing lanes etc.

If you go with the DDPai let us know what you think! I’m looking at the Mini 3 with Harness in AliExpress for about £65 at the minute; but typically not got the spare cash this month!

So peeps finally settled for the one below 1440p front, 1080p rear, 64gb with hardware kit, researched loads and weighed up all the pro's and con's. Should be here for my birthday which my Mrs has kindly paid for, result.
