Hi all

New member, just bought an A4 3.0 V6 TDI 272 quattro 2016 and just getting used to the Upgraded MMI, as my previous car was a 2010 A4 avant 2.0 TFSI quattro and the MMI was pretty basic.

Firstly, is there anyway to connect my iphone to use the smartphone features without having to connect using cable? It says something about connecting wifi, but when i try it, it doesnt seem to work.

Are there any known issues with my model that i can look out for whilst i have some warranty on the car?
The TFSI i had suffered from the piston issue but managed to get audi to change the internals FOC luckily. Just want to get ahead if there is anything i can check.

Also i have noticed a beeping noise whilst the car is parked up and locked. Noise is coming from the back of the car, but isnt any louder in the boot, but if i stick my head under, i can hear a click right before the beep. Its a low pitch beep at regular intervals.
Ive searched the forum and seen people mention a beep that is related to batteries in the alarm going, but the car is only 2016 so cant see how that could be an issue already?

Ive done some miles in the car this week, and wondering if getting around 45mpg on a motorway run is about as good as i should expect?

TIA

Congrats on the new car!

To use Android Auto / Apple Carplay You'll need a cable, there is no wireless transmission for these functionalities on our car unless You use third party wireless dongles.

But You should check out the audi app for advanced features for remotely accessing Your car (locking/unlocking, cars status and location, toggling auxiliary heating/ventilation on, seeing oil level and adblue, next service, fuel level etc).

On the matter in known issues there was TPI for right side (cylinders 1-3) exhaust camshafts making noise (loud ticking/clacking) on v6 diesel which Audi would replace as part of warranty. I think affected cars were with date of manufacturing till 01.2017.

On the fuel consumption side my average while owning the car for a bit longer then a year is 6.67 l/100km (42 mpg) - thats measured consumption at the fueling station, the car itself calculates 6.3 l/100km (45 mpg) over 78k km (49k miles). That's with A/C on eco and with auxiliary heating on in winter months (I think auxiliary heating is what makes the delta between the calculated and actual consumption). My daily commute 45 km (28 miles) with 60% highway driving. But that depends on traffic, in summers after night shifts I often get even 5.1-5.3 l/100km (55-53 mpg). When I was on a trip last summer, my overall average for about 1000 km (620 miles) was about 5.1 l/100km (55 mpg). In the picture there's one big chunk of driving with average shown 5.3 l/100km (53 mpg)

I don't have and sounds coming from rear of the car.

The MyAudi setup on a 2016 model is fairly limited, you will not have remote locking/unlocking, fuel or oil levels either. Basically all there will be is sent destination to vehicle, location of the vehicle the and service history...

Do i need to have audi connect for the app to work?

OP, are you using an iPhone? If so, then you should be able to enable wireless Apple CarPlay on your A4. You would need to buy an OBD11 dongle but once you have this, its fairly easy. The instructions below are for the A6 C8, but it shares the same MLB platform as the A4 B9 so many codings are exactly the same.

Thanks for that, would the starter pack be enough for what i want or what is the bare minimum i need to buy?

I thought that all B9s would have the same functionality (if options are the same ofcourse) for the app, why 2016 would be any different?

Because we have an earlier version, all the remote stuff came about post 2018 or 19 when the SOS module was fitted as standard...

In regards to the beeping noise i am getting, ive found some very similar complaints and people reporting a faulty adblue module is the cause. Anyone know anything about this please?

Had the car 1 week, the battery was dead when i went to test drive it and had to get starter pack on it, apparently this fault drains the battery down, so sounds like it could be the culprit

There was also a run of a batch of 3.0l diesel b9's with faulty batteries, there is a thread on here if you search..

The battery has already been replaced last week as it was dead when i went to test drive it

Is that a UK thing? Because I have a 2017 B9 and I have a full functionality of the app. My car was imported from Germany.
So the connectivity is tied in with SOS module? I thought they were seperate systems. So theoretically, if my car were to be stolen and the thief disconnects the main battery, I could still find the car with app, because Connect functionality would still be working?

It is you are correct, I guess that, as that was my bad assuming, as this forum is UK based and so is the OP, then we were talking UK specs. Cars for other markets of course have different specs. Yes the remote functions are definitely tied into the SOS system and the fob.
As far as find my car works, on mine it is linked to when the car was turned off, so must be through the sat navigation GPS somehow..

I understand that this is UK forum and some things are different on UK spec cars than on mainlaind Europe, just expanding my knowledge, it's interesting how options differ from country to country.

No further update to the beep from the rear, had car on diagnostics and no faults regarding this. Only error shown is for a faulty window button, as it wont auto roll down and have to hold it down.

The guys at German Motors where i bought it from are looking into it, and hats off to them, ive had cars from dealers in the past and they wont acknowledge any problems at all. At least these chaps are willing to look into it.

Hopefully we can find out what it is and it can be sorted, my money is on a faulty adblue pump, from what i have found on other forums. Audio files match the problem and beeping noise exactly.
