Brake pad warning?!

Hi, just thought I'd chip in and mention I have a FL RS3 and the brakes have never squeaked/squealed, but it was an Audi staff car, so I'm pretty sure they've done something to it to stop this - they'd also painted the hubs, so no rust there either. I thought I'd read somewhere that the squeaking can be stopped by replacing the pad backing shims with a new design?
 
Mine squeaked on and off the first week of new ownership
A few hard bursts of the brake pedal fixed this,now no squeak since the first week of March

23k mileage currently - I am not keen on spending anything extra that doesn’t need doing!

Brembo may have their label on the backplate and the box but for sure they don't manufacture the pads and/or the friction material, and there lies the problem. The 8P RS3, for example, were/are Pagid. Can explain more on the 27th, M... :blink:

Like 2011 8P RS3 47i6 upgrade pads here, M: Brembo and Audi logo but stamped PAGID on the backplate and friction material.

Too silly for words, the 47i6 upgrade just didn't resolve the brake squeal issue, and neither did the 8V 8-pot calipers... :sadlike:
 
I don’t know what pads they ordered. I just decided to let them order whatever it was. Clearly they went for the least expensive pads. I think the Brembo on that link on eBay about were around £89 so I imagine something like that... but I could be wrong.

Honestly I am just happy to have saved over £350 having them do it instead of Audi. My car is going into Audi on the 16th to have the sun roof frame replaced (hopefully) and all the other little niggles taken care of so they can charge Audi warranty their stupid expensive prices as long as I am not paying!

Having looked at the discs since the change they look perfect - no issues. I don’t know if the low pads caused them to look like they may need a change but looking at them now they are definitely not something I will be changing. The last thing on the list right now is the front tyres that I believe are still legal but I imagine I will have to change them in the next month or so. The online price above in one of the posts was £130 for each tyre which I can live with.

Let’s put this into perspective I got my pad changed and will be able to buy two new tyres online for £100 less than Audi would have charged JUST for the pads.

Dealerships certainly are trumpy at times, but then they have far greater overheads.

Just started getting squeal on mine; had it a few months now (the car not squeak!).
It’s a late 2015 8V. Not planning on putting cheap pads (I.e red stuff) on - had yellow stuff on a previous car and wasn’t impressed - but I don’t want this behaviour either as I daily the car and the noise is unpleasant.
I’d be happy with Brembo Sport or Performance Friction.
What do people generally go for to retain performance but get rid of the racket?
 
Have decided to go a different route and bought some EBC blue stuff pads as they also come with the wear indicator sensors.
Will let you know how I get on...

I picked up some Brembo HP2000 front pads today, will do a review of them when I have fitted them. A few pics below.

Any update on how you’re finding these as I’m thinking about upgrading my OE pads to these.

Not fitted them yet, thought my original pads were close to wear limit but turns out they had more life left in them.
 
Just spotteed a set on ebay (search for item number 302548242490) ... I think they are the correct pads at the bargain price of £66.99 delivered!!! CarParts4Less is the same company as EuroCarParts :)

How did your hp2000 pads work put?

im
Going to euros today to buy brembo xtra pads and discs for the rear (310mm cross drilled)

I was going to buy the 356mm vagbremtechnic but heard a members bracket snapped and caused issues.

appreciate your response in advance.

HP2000 pads were OK, maybe a little bit noisy but performed well.
 
FWIW I got some Ferodo pads DS5023/DS4967 and they were WAY WAY quieter than OEM and have not squeaked at all
