Hey all,

I just wonder whether the 2016-2019 S-Line FL rear bumpers are the same size as the PFL 2012-2016 ones? Also, are 3dr sportback rear bumpers different that 5dr ones, as on eBay some offers say 3dr and some 5dr ??? Maybe there aren't any 3dr diesels, only gasoline and the exhaust tips of the 3 doors are different, hence the diffuser openings for the exhaust tips are different and that's the only difference between 3dr and 5dr ???

To make it more clear, I have the exact same one bumper and dual exhaust (2103 A3 2.0 TDI):

And I opt for this:

Do you think I could just straightforward swap the bumper with the newer one ?

I think it will. I never did for the 8V but did for the 8L and 8P. Those could swap without modification.

PFl and FL 5 door also PFl to FL 3 door are the same you can retrofit it but 3 door to 5door you can't because of geometry and front you have to change the headlights to FL

Thank you both for responding ! I was almost 100% sure it will fit, just wanted to have someone confirm for me as I am quite new in here and don't know much stuff, yet I have planned to do quite lots of retrofits.

I only have to find the diffuser insert trims as all of the rear bumpers are coming without them and cannot find the part numbers anywhere

Hi, I have a bumper question for the Saloon. I want to fit parking sensors to my 2017 facelift S3 saloon (I have tried the retrofit guide on here but the link does not work) I need to change the bumper to keep everything 'standard' OE and see different bumpers listed , some say they will fit the saloon, some say they will fit the convertible and some say they will fit both! I have been told that I cannot fit Parking sensors which I do not understand, I understand that there is more to it (coding etc.) for me the bumper is the first step. I do not want to fit a stick on kit.
I have a part number 8V5.807.511.J which seems to keep cropping up but I am not sure, can anyone help???

You don't have to change the bumper to keep it oem there are some retrofit tools to install the sensors cable and vcds coding

Im living in Germany and working on c8 a6 A7 bumper assembly factory. There are some retrofit tools that you need if you want to use them on your existing bumper
But you can find a retrofiter in your area or ask audi dealer. I can show you if you want what you need to drill the holes but I don't know how to activate them on vcds I never tried it.

First of all you need to drill the aps holes you need that tool
https://www.k-electronic-shop.de/AU...rkzeug-fuer-PDC--PLA-Sensoren-Leihgeraet.html
You have to remove the bumper inside you will find the marked holes for the aps there you drill and you will use that tool on the link.
Second you will find a retrofit packet for your car. There are lot of on Google.
For example here also parking set for the back https://shop.pci-diagnosetechnik.de/AUDI-A3-8V-Einparkhilfe-APS-PDC-Heck-mit-OPS-Nachruestpaket
Sorry I know it is in German language but is the best retrofiter site here. You can also choose your car color.
And the last you need some one to activate them with VCDS

Sorry for my poor English I hope my guide helps your retrofit

@Potterswheel loosing like days of searching for bumpers, I noticed that parts for Conv and Saloon are the same in most of the cases.
Sportback is another thing though. I found front FL bumper for 100 quid in mint condition, however it is for a Saloon and I won't be able to fit it on my 2013 PFL A3... However, it is pointed out that the bumper fits both saloon and convertible....

Hello Sve
Thanks for the info its very helpful, as usual I have more questions
Is the cutter 18.2mm? would 18.6mm be close enough? =+>0.4 mm.
Do they sell the Audi mountings separately? I have seen copies on an auction site
I am assembling my own kit of parts and already have :- ( I believe it depends on your build date as to which module you need)
the module 5Q0 919 298 B
the sensors ATW-307893/01-1106151745 or 5Q0 919 275
the bumper loom 8V0 971 104 TAB 010 889 AS 01.03. 2013 Ind. 09s
the speaker 5Q0 919 279
Access to a coder
so as you can see I only need to sort the bumper now, (Audi £420 new + paint £180) does anyone know how realistic it is to hope that you can punch the holes without a respray? or is this in the lap of the gods?
thanks again

That seems to be a common story, I have been all over to view several now and they have all been damaged when being taken off what was a good car. I even went to see one which was described as mint ( £450.00 ) and had been sprayed already to hide whatever damage was there already!!!!!!
They normally pull at least one sensor mount off as well when stripping the sensors off . (even seen one where it had been hot melt glued back on!!!)
I understand I won't get a perfect bumper but just in one piece, surface scratches ready for painting to match my car, is that too much to ask??
If I can't modify my own bumper to a high enough standard then I think I am going to go new now and at least I know what I am buying.

Totally agree. It's hard to get a good one second hand, but yet for the price I think this one is decent. Audi will rip your a** off if you go with them. I asked them for the side-skirts, they told me GBP 510 for the side-skirts alone, holders not included... Didn't got the guts the ask for the bumper. Probably it would cost half my car

I asked on here and Crew Audi came back with £420 for a bare FL saloon rear bumper

That's a good price for a bumper imo. If the one I am looking for was at that price, I would go for it

More digging today has revealed some part numbers:-
8V5 919 289 c
8V5 919 290 c
8V5 919 291 c
8V5 919 292 c
These are for the 'top hats' which are attached to the back of the OE bumper cover, but Audi do not supply them individually, does anybody know where I can get some from or where there is a scrap bumper which I could rescue them from - for beer tokens.....
I don't fancy using the universal 'stick on' types - a lot of work has gone in to getting the Audi ones right.
Thanks in advance

Question how you stick them?
They are sticked on bumper with special welding tool . That's why I told you to buy with adhesive stickers

I am going to use the same 3M double sided sponge adhesive that VAG use on some cars. I believe that the Audi designed ones will give me a better fit and coverage than after market ones that's all.
Thanks for your concern, I will let you know how I get on. delivery due 28 12 20
Just need to order the cutter now

Before installing clean the surface and better use first a sand paper. Also use a heat gun or hair dryer to worm up the installation area for better results. And also install the sensors on installation process to center them from the out side area makes it a lot easier.
