Have been fitting loads of these recently and they have come a long way. It perfect sound wise and can glitch every no and then but if you want Audi smartphone interface in a car that does not support it, and you cannot stomach the Audi media system retrofit, this is really the only way.

I had the Tech Pack High in my B9 and I thought the Audi Interface was pretty crap. CarPlay was much better.
The only thing worrying me would be if it effected the sound as I have the B&O system.

How are these systems fitted?
I would still like to upgrade to the 7” screen.

Each to their own. Personally I like the Audi interface.

these boxes basically connect between your media system and its screen, sound via Bluetooth or aux input depending on which unit you purchase.

If you are a larger screen then you need to retrofit an MIB1 high or MIB2 system, or an aftermarket android system.

Your main sound won't be affected, i.e SD card play back. but when using Bluetooth or Aux, you are essentially removing the Audi/BO DAC from the loop as the signal is now analogue, so it dosen't sound anywhere near as good.

I prefer the Audi interface myself over Carplay , Carplay is just too restrictive, I expected it to be so much more before I had it installed. For example using streaming services like Qobuz or Tidal, there is no search function, and Tidal 'pauses' after every song. Pointless really, which I am still miffed about lol.

So the CarPlay would effect the B&O?

So maybe it’s just better looking at grading to the MIB1 high/MIB2?

No, the sound using carplay will be of lesser quality than Mib playback, thats all.

With all the mods you been looking at making wouldn't it have been cheaper/easier just to buy a better specced car?

There wasn’t any! Mines not too badly spec’d. Virtually every S line/Sport I found was bogo standard. I’m not looking at spending loads! The CarPlay interface boxes aren’t expensive. And was only considering upgrading the screen if mine is on its way out!

Jeez guys don’t hate someone for wanting to play around with his car! If I want to, thats my business! Keep the negativity to yourself! Don’t criticise!
Never come across this before in all my years on this forum!!!

Wow, considering all the advice and support you have been given over the recent weeks, a lot of it from me, this post is awfully crass.

You've talked about many things from 19" OEM wheels, to MIB2 etc, so this can potentially add thousands on top of a cars price. With many of the ideas being OEM style mods, I posed the question that spending more on the car with higher specification may have been and still be an alternative solution?

A forum is a place for debate, and some comments or thoughts you may not like, thats the 'risk' you take by using forums, that some view points may not be in align with your own.

And I appreciate all the advice I’ve been given.
It was the post below yours that I found most offensive! The reason I got my car was because it WAS well spec’d. Virtually every car I looked at was basic with no options. And cars were going so quick so I couldn’t keep hanging around. I’m pleased with the car I got. There’s no harm in wanting to do a few things to it.
Most people on here seem to like to little things to their car.

Might be worth using the multi quote option to avoid confusion.

It was merely a question, over anything else. Having gone down the 'mod' route, even with my car which had the highest spec I had ever seen over the two years of looking, the mods I have done and still want to make pushed me up into a category higher in price, where the market would have opened up further. It's why I have always pondered spending more initially, but as you say its not about what you spend half the time, its what it is actually for sale, and the feasibility of seeing it and making a purchase.

I had 3 cars sold from under me after agreeing to buy and I spent weeks looking. I was getting fed up and bought this car as it was good condition etc. Black though which is my least fav colour but I needed a car.
