Hi All,

So I need some front brake pads.
Can anyone recommend some with good breaking power and that don’t produce a lot of brake dust?

Brembo's, OEM replacements, Europarts (they have 20% every few months on eBay but you've just missed on). You really don't need anything special or expensive.

Check on the Brembo site, there are SO MANY variants. I had to call Audi to get my disc sizes as there are many differences. Thankfully, turns out I have the big 312mm discs

Once you have the Brembo part numbers, just plumb them into ebay and click the 'search item and description' button. Voila.

I know it's not specifically "an application list" but it helped me

Just done an SQ5 70-mile A460/A51 round trip to Royal Stoke hospital and here's my front wheels brake dust:

And the braking is just superb on a 2-ton Audi SQ5 - love it..

Must slow down mind, this thing just wants to go... ​

Take a look at the/MY 2011 OEM 8P RS3 brake pads that have:

1) the Audi logo nicely displayed, 2) the Brembo logo nicely displayed, and 3) so as not to be obvious, the Pagid logo stamped into the backplate.

Now, the question: who do you think manufactured the the 'backplate' and or the 'friction materials' attached?

Gotta laugh, choose BREMBO...

or someone who actually develops/evaluates/tests/manufactures friction materials

I have to admit I know nothing about brake pads so any advice is greatly appreciated. If Ferodo are good then I will get them, but Europarts have 45% off brake pads at the moment, but they only sell a few types and Brembo is one of them.

Been doing this a long time, ScottishA4B9, hands-on with Lotus cars since the late 60's. And professionally - my responsibility to evaluate and specify. But these Ferodo Eco-Friction are the best road-pad I have ever used and to say they work admirably on our TT/RS3 and SQ5 says loads. You do whatever, just don't latch on to my rear-end.

Brembo do two kinds, if you used the Brembo site i linked, it would show you the two options for your car.

Their X series pad is for the X series disc, which is their ‘high performance’ range, but may be able to be used on a standard disc.

Always used Brembos on my 500bhp travk car and never had any issues myself and never felt like I needed ‘more’. Definitely not on an oil burner for sure

Brembo have been in business and oem supplier to many brands for longer than Ive been alive so Im happy with that level of trust , but obviously other options out there, if they cost the same, worth trying. Especially if they reduce brake dust like those above!

Remind yourself though, its just a diesel shopping cart, same as mine, do you need the best of everything? I fall into the same trap sometimes

Yeah I’m not a hard driver. Just want something that doesn’t produce a lot of brake dust where I’m having to clean the alloys all the time! I’ve had some truly awful break pads over the years.

Then check out: ebay buyanycarparts and use that part number

I’ve given up trying to buy on eBay. I need a proper retailer where I can put my reg in as I don’t know the type of brake pads I need.

do you have a service book as parts fitted to your car should be on a sticker on the front , Will be a 3 letter code relating to different parts as in ILC for rears or IKY for fronts and such like. these are usually listed on websites under the fitment details hence why you sometimes see 2 different types for 1 car
