Interesting to see how the Audi compares to it's main competitors. A little dissapointed that manual mode in the S3 doesn't actually mean manual.
Thought it was a good video, out of the 3 the 135i would be my choice, prefer the interior and exterior.
They are all very similar now performance wise, makes more surprising Audi didn’t add a few bhp especially when it was the last to be released.
Maybe Audi already knew the outcome over it's closest competitors and didn't feel the need for more engine performance?Thought it was a good video, out of the 3 the 135i would be my choice, prefer the interior and exterior.

Audi does edge it performance wise to be fair, they are so close but hard to notice in every day driving.Agree, good video, Audi being last released would have made sure in their testing it would beat the older rivals you would have thought. M135i would be my choice too, much much better interior which is where you spend your time. Yes not the best looking, S3 probably wins that
Potentially and it did out perform them.Maybe Audi already knew the outcome over it's closest competitors and didn't feel the need for more engine performance?
A lot less work for the aftermarket engine tuners to do.. Everything should be covered by the 8V variant.Potentially and it did out perform them.
Won’t be long before packages come out.A lot less work for the aftermarket engine tuners to do.. Everything should be covered by the 8V variant.
My son left his M135i parked up at my mother's house ie right next to my own ...still prefer the looks of my car....folks including myself say the 8y headlights are huge in comparison to the 8v's well the new 1 series headlights are just as large as the ones on the 8y ....its a chunky looking hatchback in comparison to the 8v saloon....although it does look its best from the rear and side on.
No comment on the Mercedes
Good advertising for the 8y S3 .....as its been taking a bit of bashing from all corners.....myself included

Agree on the S3 bashing, including myself. Definitely growing on me but not quite my cup of tea. 8V FL still the best looking of the bunch.
Also agree on the BM, best angle is definitely the rear, the front doesn’t look bad when it’s black on black.
Will be interesting if the Golf R really does have the power increase and how much difference that makes.
Old S3 the same though vs RS3 which held the gear to rev cut. Ah I miss that sound ...

I'm fairly sure someone in Audi will be reading the on line forums. Better the gearbox changes up before it red lines protects the ****** engine does it not ...nothing worse than red lining the engine l do it quite a lot on Avril's wee FiestaFrom what I gather that can be programmed out with a DSG re map

I have a feeling that it may out sell the 135 but what the **** do I know, I've got a Cupra
I agree, but you can spec it without the nasty add onsMight do Steve, as appears pretty well equipped. Maybe catering more for younger crowd with the colour accents and that cannot stretch to M135i
I didn't realize Fiestas had red lines or come to think of it hire cars lolBetter the gearbox changes up before it red lines protects the ****** engine does it not ...nothing worse than red lining the engine l do it quite a lot on Avril's wee Fiesta
Personally I think you come across as quite intelligent.I have a feeling that it may out sell the 135 but what the **** do I know, I've got a Cupra
Would love to hear the X3 M40 red lineThat is what the limiter is for....to protect the engine, not that I would fee the need to bounce off it myself
Looks great

I watched this last night and have to say I really like the look of it. I never thought I would go front wheeled drive again but this got me thinking.
I also got an email from a dealer who supplies work cars for us offering one for £369 down £369 a month.
I think that deal is actually from BMW themselves M135i is £449/£449 per month

I like to have the option to redline it or bounce it off the limiter, not that I necessarily would. It feels a bit more 'nanny state' with all the protective measures put in place, like a soft limiter, etc. It just ends up making it feel a bit more boring and restrained in my opinion. That is what the limiter is for....to protect the engine, not that I would fee the need to bounce off it myself
Knock yourself out mate.....lol being a more mature but still rather handsome chap rarely do l find the need nor find myself in the situation that l would rev out the engine....fast enough long before hitting the red line....but it has happened on the very rare occasion and felt glad the car changed up...I like to have the option to redline it or bounce it off the limiter, not that I necessarily would. Compared to the other two the S3 looked like an SUV in that video, it's not a looker in the slightest.
Couple of mates were down at mine today for a bit of a group car wash, both S3 drivers and the 8V is still a much better looking car. Out of the current generations the M135i is the best in every way.
S3 bashing aside they are all unattractive to my eyes because they're hatchbacks....but that yellow Merc looks ancient compared to the Audi and BMW...like l said many moons ago....the Mercs design was'nt up to scratch even at launch....Theyll be face lifting it very soon
Looks great
Worth a quick watch. I just fast forwarded to the part where is actually driving them
Another plus for the BMW then? and the new Golf R?
