Power, mods,specs, remapper and graphs!

APR pump will be fine, just use a new follower.
Go Stg2+, you dont need an intercooler for that. You can add one later if you need it but unless the std one is leaking there is no need to change it. I ran std with stg 2+ APR and bought a Wagner later.
Yeah I've got a new follower ready to go in. Going to go for the whole lot to be honest, I've already got the intercooler and the pipe's and hoses for a bargain really so may as well get the whole lot done before I drive down to RTech cos once it's remapped to Stage2+ I won't be going any further with it for the foreseeable once RTech have finished with it.

Well if you already have it , fit it just saying you can save £1k on a new one if you didnt already have one.

Yeah course. Nah appreciate the advice mate. I figured I'd get the R8 coil packs just so I've got all new ones in cos I've only had the car 12 months and ok it's only done 34k miles but I figured may as well put fresh ones in along with the Iridiums for peace of mind and keep the current ones as spares.

I have done 100k miles now on original std caps on stg2+ 380bhp no problems.

Ah ok cool, maybe not then. What else did you have to upgrade to get to 380bhp?

All you need is
Pump
CAI
Large bore down pipe and cat
DV+ (or a later upgrade std DV)
Stg2+ software.

Std IC has plastic fitting which can leek.
R8 caps are the same as S3 but Red.
I never did the DSG as i didnt find anything wrong with the stock map.

Yeah so I've either got or doing all those parts. I've got a DV+ but took it off as was having issues with it sticking.

Just wondering why you originally said 360bhp but you've got 380bhp, so what did you do on top of what I originally listed or did you just get lucky?

stg 2+ varies depending on software. I think R tech tend to go for Torque rather than top BHP where as i use APR which is more BHP oriented.
Its a balance between BHP and top end power or Bottom end and more torque and less Bhp.

Ah right I see. I'm not sure then, probably more torque I guess I'd prefer hence why I'm going for the FMIC.

On a separate note, was it yourself who posted YouTube links of your Stage2+ S3 destroying everything at Santa Pod some time ago? I found some links on here once but couldn't find them again and forgot which thread they were on..

No not me, there were quite a few very quick S3's on here a few years back but most have moved on now.

If you're aiming for high torque then you will definitely need the DSG remapped as the clutch packs will start slipping at around 500Nm (my stage 2+ S3 ran 540Nm)

Wow that's insane, 540nm! What sort of power and mods were you running with that?

Sent from my SM-N986B using Tapatalk

Yes you see i got 480nm but i got 370bhp at 6k rising still to 381 at 7k where as a lot of maps drop right off at the top

MRC custom maps (ECU & TCU) for max torque and minimal lag, stock IC, rs4 valve, 100 Cell DP, Loba hpfp . I ran with the stock catback, intake and a samco maf to turbo pipe whilst I was stage2+. Power output was 340ps (between 5k and 7k rpm!) and 540Nm but this was on MRC's dyno which I consider to be more realistic than some of the others. Peak power was limited due to the intake but I had epic grunt low down.

I'd been using them for over 10 years at this point and seen 100's of dyno runs, including a number of dyno days. It was very interesting watching some of the owners faces when their claimed power figures (from other dynos) didn't get close on the MRC dyno. A neighbour was running a DTUK tuning box on his almost new S3 8V and the claimed figures were 370ps but it only made 335ps on the MRC dyno, and another stage2+ S3 8P ran 33ops.

You need to decide if you want low down grunt or top end power - as Paddy said, you can't have both on this platform.

Anyone recommend anywhere in North East that can gut my dpf and remap so it'll still pass a mot?

Hello everyone.
What could be a good safe power to go to on 1.9Tdi bkc engine with stock parts (2004/12 3 door model without dpf) ?
Also what is the weak point I should look out for (clutch, turbo, etc.)?

Before going for more power the engine should be in good condition. How many miles has it done?

I personally wouldn’t tune an engine that has done 180k miles. Could lead to trouble.

if anything you might get it back to it’s original output levels.

As far as I heard, 8 valve 1.9tdi PD engines last for a long time without problems. I just wanted to hear some people opinions about what safe power I could aim when I decide to get a proper dyno tune if I decide to do it.

Just picked a bunch of exciting bits for my S3

- Airtec Stage2 intercooler
- APR fuel pump with AKS 165bar FPRV
- BarTek charge and boost pipes
- Forge hoses

Going to get the intercooler, charge pipes and hoses fitted locally - don't think I'd be able to do it myself.

After that I'll be booking in with RTech for the full Stage2+ treatment in the coming months

Nothing spectacular but a new one to me haha. Have had a few S3's over the years from Stage 1 to stage 2+ and my S3 i have now is stage2+ RTech. BUT before all that it was stage 1 RTech but i had fitted all stage2+ parts ready as there was a long waiting list to get in to RTech but the car did feel quick. Anyway visited Rtech back a month or so ago now and at stage1 map with stage2+ mods the car was producing 350bhp which is a first in my book of this happening. After the stage 2+ map i gain 4/5 bhp (sports cat & Resonator) but alot more torque so was happy with the end result but 350bhp @ stage1 you cant fault it. Will post up the graph when i get home. :icon thumright:

Finally got my car to R-Tech yesterday after over a year of planning and upgrades and it's now had the full stage 2+ treatment with injector service and decoke package as well as the DSG Stage2 remap.

Achieved 374 bhp and surprisingly 421 lb/ft torque which the guys at R-Tech said is unreal for this level of tune.

Full spec and parts:
2012 S3 BE DSG 5Dr @37k miles

Exhaust - BCS WRC 3" non-silenced 100 cell Race Cat, 72mm titanium heat wrapped downpipe
Intake - Racingline Cold Air Performance Intake wrapped in Reflect-a-Gold
Intercooler - Airtec Stage2
Fuel Pump - OEM with VIS Internals and RS4 FPRV
Spark Plugs - NGK Iridium BKR7EIX
Diverter Valve - Brand new Rev G
Oil - Miller's Nanodrive CFS NT+ 5w40
Fuel - Tesco Momentum 99 RON
Suspension - AP by KW Coilovers, 25-30mm drop

Other mods and parts include:
Runner Flap Delete (Billet) fitted by R-Tech
Forge Intercooler and Carbon Canister hoses
Bar-Tek Turbo Inlet Pipe
Bar-Tek Turbo Outlet Pipe
Bar-Tek Turbo Muffler Delete

Had also had major service done recently at German Specialists in Stockport, oil and fuel filters, coolant flush and new header tank, oil pickup pipe and sump clean and full pressure test.

So pleased. It's incredible to drive, feels totally different to stock. The acceleration in all gears and all parts of the rev range is unreal and absolutely savage. Well worth the 2.5 hour drive there and back
Amazing job by Niki and the other guys at R-Tech.

Something odd with your figures ? is that an 8p ? with a before figure of 300bhp ? and 310lb/ft ?-

Yeah 8p, it was producing those figures purely because of the mods fitted. I had it dyno'd at Unicorn before the last round of parts were fitted (Intercooler and hoses, charge pipes) and it was producing 292 and 295 lb/ft
2128ac1bbdb2ecc18fe1fc4fb1b1bed9.jpg

You might need to get them to turn it down or get a DSG remap as thats going to destroy your clutches i would think . I think 500nm or 370 lb/ft is about the limit ?

I asked Niki about this and he said it'll be fine, he's done Stage3 cars with TTE420s on the standard DSG and as long as it's remapped to apply additional clamping pressure it's fine (which he did on mine). Had a quick search on the forums and @nluk100 seems to have the right answer.

Niki said all I'll need to do is get the DSG recalibrated when possible and go on the recalibration drive so it can relearn after the remap.

OK all good then :)

Not dynod mine yet but
Standard bxe
Standard clutch
Standard intake and exhaust

it claims a powerful 105bhp but I think she’s got at least 85bhp
There is a dent in the door thinking about it probably gives me that 20bhp back (lol just trying to get a few chuckles
Also it has a dump valve? It’s diesel.

This week was a bit handfull.......
Installed snow performance stg2 / iboost with all the solenoid valves for controlling the meth kit.
Had the ECU remmaped for the big turbo........K04 RS550
On the street it made 8.77 for 100-200 with 1480 kgr ( with full tank )+95 kgr me in it.
boost is at 2.02 bar through the whole rev range.
I have 0 corrections per cylinder with 100% meth spray and I would like to go up to 2.2 bar to see if it will gain something...
Don't know the excact power, but I' assuming around 440-450?

Anyone has a similar time? and make an accurate ( as possible) number for power estimate?

Hi I’m 18 and I’ve just bought an Audi 83 1.4 tfsi as my first car and I’m just trying to figure out what mods I can do to start off ( on the cheaper side and won’t ruin my insurance) so far I’ve got a honey comb grill, wind deflectors and 4d number plates. Does anyone know any other cheaper mods that I can do

Just got remap yesterday (ignore todays date)
S3 8P, 2007, BHZ

RAMair oversized cai
3" unbranded downpipe with sports cat replica
NGK Iridium plugs
NGK coils (you lot like to use red R8 ones, the NGK go into Lambos ;) )
Millers CFS 5w40

have gfb bo but the STUTUTUUTUTUTU on literally any throttle movement was driving me bonkers so I took that off.

311whp
445Nm (328lb/ft)
1666348931911

1666349155124

Not bad for high mileage car, with almost no mods!

Time to start saving up for new clutch, hpfp, maybe an upgraded turbo chra and brakes :)
