Hi, went for a service and MOT - Left with a potential £900 bill.
I have two queries though. One regarding changing tyres for which advice would be helpful and the other being regarding a potential warranty issue.
Bought the vehicle in Jan and at the time all tires had 7mm tread except front left which had 5mm for some reason. Fast forward 6.5k miles later at this service, the front left is on 2.5mm apparently and the front right is 4mm with the rest being not far behind. Pretty shocked. >65% Motorway miles (albeit at speed).
I am aware to change tyres in 2's unfortunately and I like the Michelin's on the vehicle even though they get terrible durability! I have attached a picture showing the wear from the health check and I think it resembles that I am over inflating the tyres when you look at the pattern of wear? Not sure how this happened because I check it regularly and fill air in accordance with door sticker!? Any opinions? Or recommendations on tyres?
If I therefore under inflated the tyres to even the wear out could I potentially keep it longer? Rather change them after Jan 2021 and allow me to cover at least maybe another 3-5k on them. Pretty bad wear I must say.
Other problem is my passenger door is sticking when opening from inside. Dealer confirmed fault. Said they need the car for an hour to change some sort of cable? Said as vehicle is under warranty parts will be covered but labour is £190!?!?!?!? To fix a stiff door!? Do I have to pay for labour if under warranty?
When asked if they could tell me the problem so I could take to another dealer instead they said they would have to diagnose it themselves first so extra cost. Basically means either live with the stuck door or pay the £190. I don't mind paying for good quality but I just feel it's a bit extortionate. Vehicle has full dealer service history and everything.
Not overly happy.
