Hi all,

I’m looking to add a dog bone mount insert just to stop that transmission slop now that I’ve tuned the car. Any recommendations on the best ones to go for which offer the least vibration of course.

Cheers.

I got the 034. No noticable difference from OEM, until hard acceleration when shifts are much more crisp compared to stock.

Cheers for the replies and pictures chaps. Quite a varied preference then really! I’ve had a few cars with the dog bone mount on now and always gone for the yellow powerflex rubber ones but suffered mad vibration. I want to go for something different this time round, before I posted I was looking at the APR one. I want the most noticeable difference with least vibration possible really, which is obvious haha.

Notice much in the lower gears also? Less slop when moving at lower speeds? Then crisp when giving it a bit?

No difference in lower speeds that I could tell, only in hard shifts under acceleration.

Yeah I’ve always had the yellow power flex ones on my previous cars however always suffered with the vibration at idle and very badly in reverse and that’s what I don’t want chap.

Do you get more vibration with the stainless steel one though? Would I be better going for the 034?

Never even given it a thought really.
I fitted them 2 years ago and haven’t noticed any NVH.

Okay chap cool, I need to just go for any of the Apr and 034 ones then really. Would you advise on going for both then or just stick with the lower as I’m only stage 1.

Okay nice one chap. Would you advise on both then and You say you have both fitted without any noticeable vibration? How easy is the top one to fit as I know the lower is a piece of **** and only takes a matter of minutes. Also, do you have a link to both items you bought please chap.

+1 for PowerFlex, have used them in the past (MK4 Golf era admittedly) but were compliant without too much vibration.

Awesome GTi.

Pendulum mount needs undoing to fit the upper one.

I used new bolts on assembly as they are angle tightened after torquing.

Cheers chap, think I’m just going to go for the lower insert to start. Have done on all previous cars, albeit not quite as powerful as this car.

Anyone tried a pedal box on their cars? I’ve had them in the past and they’ve been good but would it work in sync with a stage 1 and tcu tune?

Upper one stops lower one bending as per photo.

Pedal box can be adjusted to suit, VCDS mod is on or off. I use a TMC Motorsport pedal box, approx £100.
Yeah I thought as much too Alex. Thanks for the message though, I’ll take a look at those. I have been looking at the DTUK ones as I’ve used their previous generation ones on some of my cars and they have been very good.

All pretty much the same apart from price. I like "set and forget" so picked up a basic TMC motorsport box. It has three modes:
  • City
  • Sport
  • Off
It defaults to city each time the car starts but I don't care about the modes, I just wanted something which made the throttle response better so I popped the cover off and turned the dial inside to where I wanted it to be, so the car starts moving as soon as the pedal is touched, and done. No messing around with modes and everything is hidden behind the dash. Instant throttle response for £100'ish = perfect.

Does anyone mind linking to what upper and lower inserts to buy please? No idea which version etc to look at.

If I don’t go for the ECS one which comes with a new bolt. Where can you get the new bolts from for the others?

I have a ecs dogbone insert that’s only done a couple of thousand miles.
Would need a new bolt as the one with it has been used

Fits this type of mount

How come you’re taking it off the car? How was it?

I removed it when I sold the car.
Doesn’t fit my 2019 Golf R so I opted for the Revo mount instead.
When I had it fitted to my RS3 it really tightened up gear changes although you did get the initial kick on start up which you get with every mount/insert.

Ok fair enough chap.

Would you say that there is no vibration then with this one? I’ve had the powerflex ones in the past as I’ve said and although they do the job, the vibration becomes unbearable at times.

I was looking at the billet or alluminium ones in hope that they don’t cause the vibration. Then I saw this ECS one and it’s not like any other is it. Would you advise on going for it over the billet ones?

From memory I paid about £60 for the ecs one, I tried the 034 before it and lasted a couple of days.
The ecs has the bush then plate to eliminate vibration.
Compared to the powerflex ones I’ve tried previously it is a huge improvement but for me there’s always a little extra vibration.
I’m really fussy though.
When I get round to listing it in classifieds I’ll be selling for £30 delivered as the bolt has been used.

Yeah cheers for the offer chap but for the sake of £30 and having to source a new bolt I might aswell just buy new. Would you definitely advise on going for this one then over the competitors? Also, to find out which type you have, do you have to remove the undertray or is there somewhere you can find out by registration or anything?
