EBC brakes

Hi Fellow Audi fans.
I'm wanting some feedback on brakes. I'm looking for some new brakes always like drilled and grooved disks but I'm wanting some good pads too. I've seen some EBC brake kits with redstuff pads. I've seen the yellowstuff too. Struggling to know the difference.

I'm open to any other recommendations too for brakes. I'm just doing fronts to start with next month rears after Christmas. Not looking to go much over £300 for disks and pads for front

Not too sure what variant you've got, but I would look at Tarox

Red - Mid-level street upgrade for significantly improved friction and fade resistance compared to OE
Orange - Highest performing race bred compound with zero brake fade up to temperatures exceeding 750 C0
Blue - Fastest street, endurance race and track material with highest cold friction of any EBC material



Years ago they used to only make Green, Red & black

Green is for everyday use, red was always for highpowered cars and black was track cars.. the newer yellow and orange are just between the others..

I use EBC redstuff on my A4. Better than OE pads and a good fast road pad. No screeching brakes and dust is fairly low. Just bought front and rear set to refresh the brakes on my car. Cheapest I have found them is car parts for less in the performance part of the site.
In my A4 a few years ago at Castle Combe, Managed about 5 laps before the brakes started giving up, You will never get anywhere near that hot on the road. 1800kG 380 BHP so not a real lightweight.

This is great thanks guys. I think I'm going to go with the redstuff ones. I've got the 3.0l TDI A6 245bhp model but running 295. Brakes I found not great at standard but now I think I need to upgrade. I find the standard ones fade way too fast. I have noticed my front tyres need changing too which won't help but thinking might as well do all in one go. I'm sure if they still no good I'll be back to let everyone know

I had brand new red stuff on my old hot hatch, one morning at Caldwell and they were fudged went all yellow melted haha knackered my mtec drilled and groved discs to
I’ve got brembo pads on the Audi they are alright so far

Street pad on track isn't going to work .

Every set of Red I had I was expressly informed of this by EBC .

+1 for redstuffs... I have these on my 8U RSQ3... As stated already, very minimal brake dust and less abrasive to the discs than the stock Audi pads.

I've used EBC Yellows on my previous car and on the Allroad.
Work perfectly from cold, significant braking improvement all round, no noise, and despite trying I've not managed to fade them.
I believe the only downside is they do create a bit more dust than the reds.

I'll also say I've used grooved discs in the past but not found them to make any actual difference (other than droning noise when they get seriously hot) and have gone back to using good quality standard discs. IMO grooved/drilled may look good but it's the pads that make the real difference.

If you're not in a hurry, it's worth getting the Autodoc app installed on your phone and see what discounts are offered each day. Occasionally they offer big discounts on certain groups of parts, there's a discount on something every day (and I think it's cheaper via the app than the website). Delivery may take up to a week as they're based abroad, but I've used numerous times with no issue.

I’m running EBC Redstuff all round on my S7. I can highly recommend them.

You may struggle to find discs and pads at your price point. If your discs are still serviceable, I’d go with a set EBCs.

Update guys, I've had the EBC disks fitted. They actually sent the redstuff pads but without the brake sensor wire so out of anger at the time I bought some brembo pads. Now I'm trying to get hold of EBC for the wire but so far no luck with them. Apparently only EBC can supply the wire. Anyhow with new tyres too she's stopping brilliantly now

Please note if buying from EBC the pads have no brake sensor wire. I bought the disk and pad bundle. Awaiting a response from EBC.

EBC don’t supply the sensor wire, so not sure whose telling you otherwise.

Are you still using Red Stuff pads? What discs are you running out of interest. I've got a 3.0 TFSI, need new pads & discs all round and about get it mapped up to 420ish bhp by MRC so If figure I better get the brakes done first!

I am still running the original set of EBC RedStuff‘s that installed a few years ago. I’m now at 96k miles, and still on original discs.

Redstuffs produce v little dust amongst their other properties.
