Hi guys

Anyone gone down the TVS gearbox tune and can share their experience?

I have a GPF car with REVO stage 1 tune but feel the gear changes could really benefit with this upgrade.

Reading their website I think the stage 2 map would be a good option.

Looks like it sharpens up launch, probably needed on the GPF car which seems to have been softened slightly versus pre-GPF cars and also speed up gear changes significantly.

Thanks for any feedback.

Personally have never used TVS but I have heard many great things about them and their software if they are anything like the Unitronic software I am now running (sorry revo :grimacing:) the changes that can be made to this gearbox is amazing! and certainly well worth doing. Something to be aware of though, with these maps if you are going for one from TVS that increases clamping pressure which should be the case really when running so much more torque you will feel the changes very much so at high RPM so if you don't want that kind of thing then it may be best to stay away. I, on the other hand, love the kick it now gives on change and the speed of the shifting is so much better and it has also made the car more responsive low down as it holds the gears in D just that bit more to get you moving better.

Thanks mate, that’s really interesting.

Not sure if I want the changes to be too aggressive but if they only do it when pressing on and they’re still smooth at low revs when driving around town etc then maybe that’s the best if both worlds?

I really like the REVO map as it still feels very much like stock but with some extra grunt, just want the gear changes to be quicker.

Yes, lower speed is normal you occasionally get a bit of a kick if you step in it a bit but it is very OEM smooth like during normal daily driving and the good fun when pressing on. I cant see TVs being much different.
Gear shifts are insane how fast they have become.

Nice one, sounds like a good move to me then :icon thumright:

What's a TVS tune cost? Could always get your car remapped by MRC, get a matched transmission tune included with that, and will pick up some power over that Revo tune lite ;)
Very happy with the REVO tune, wasn’t after chasing big numbers and mindful the cars still fairly new!

First car I’ve tuned but who knows maybe I’ll look at other options later down the line, am currently considering an upgraded intake and intercooler (both REVO for you REVO haters lol) so baby steps into this Tuning scene :stung:

Just messing mate. We all know you're happy with it, and that's all that maters ;)

Still worth getting quotes from other tuners no? No hate for Revo, they have done some spectacular things with Golf R's. Just seems like they took a soft and gentile approach to tuning the latest RS3, and that disappoints. Better options are available is all, and it seems you are looking for more.

It'll be interesting to see what they come up with in their new intake system.
Haha, no offence taken mate.

I guess ‘better’ is down to individual taste, yes others out there giving more performance, I was more interested in giving the OPF car more personality and with the map plus added pops/burbles has achieved what I was after.

I guess I’m just looking for tweaks now that will further enhance the stage 1 map, an upgraded intake and intercooler seems the logical step and also the TVS tune.

Slower, Softer and gentler and not too much is better delivery of power? Well... that’s a new one on me mate haha
Haha, it’s no way soft and gentle, more progressive and fast.

I was put off by some comments from others that some tunes were aggressive etc, I just wanted to give it that OEM feeling with some extra punch!

I am MRC stage 2 facelift with TVs stage 2+ tune. Can’t fault it. Buttery smooth.

That’s good to hear mate, may consider MRC later down the line if I’m hunting more performance, for now happy with the REVO stage 1 and just considering the TVS to sharpen up the gear changes.

I am interested in a DSG tune. Looking into TVS website, it is just ridiculous. I can't imagine they get any customers through the web page. No data, no explanation about what is included in the DSG tune. And it seems that there is no reason to buy the stage 2 as it does not do anything? (no green check marks).

That’s why I’m going 2+ with the TVS tune, offers more and the better choice. Booked in week after next.
