It looks like Audi are not using magnetic ride in the new model A3/S3. They are using a valve controlled system. This is probably similar to the system used in the Mk7 Golf.

"Audi can also install the series S sport suspension with damper control on request. Valves control the oil flow in the dampers so that they adapt to the condition of the road, the driving situation, and the driver’s requests in an individual and ongoing in a few thousandths of a second."

Now they just need to add it to the configurator, so I can order it.

Looks like it's on the Vorsprung version -
S sports suspension system with damper control
Audi's adaptive damper system has 3 suspension settings - Dynamic, Comfort and Auto - that automatically adjust to the road.

Not on the standard S3 though

Nice find! Just goes to show again that the configurator is not complete, don’t know why you would let a system go live with gaps especially when you have had months/years to prepare for a new model

“MMI touch display with a 10.1-inch diagonal and 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster as standard, further elements up to and including the optional Audi virtual cockpit plus with a 12.3-inch diagonal”

Being discussed on another thread as others are wanting to spec it but cannot online

If you click-through I think you are dead right. The link for the damper control has a blurb here, and down the page there is a separate entry for Audi Magnetic Ride.

I can say with personal experience that the 'Adaptive suspension' is far superior to 'Mag Ride'..
I have it on the Cupra Ateca and the ride is soooo much smoother compared to my S3:yes:
Here's a quick description of it.

If it's an option on your new A3 then I would strongly recommend it.

I've just bought a 2016 RSQ3 with damper control. I believe it's a valved setup rather than the magnetic variant.
What I would say from my experience in comparison with the magride on the S3 is that its way better. The difference between comfort and dynamic is quite profound!

I originally wanted the RSQ3 over the SQ5 but just couldn't find one when I was looking 2 years ago.
I started looking again 6 months ago as I knew I really wanted one at some point and then I'd decided to keep the SQ5 again until I spotted this on the approved website literally just gone on ( i know because I was checking it daily lol)
Dynamically its miles ahead of the SQ5, handles so much better and feels more alive.
The reg is coming off as soon as the log book comes back!
