Moving to the dark side

Picked up my new M2 competition on Saturday , couple of really bad photos of it - why does the sun never shine when I pick up a car. So a few comments from my first few days. I love the car, it feels more urgent like you are constantly holding it back. The exhaust sounds great even though it has all the EU restrictions on it. I love the looks of the car - even its fat backside and exhaust back box and it is great not to have a black car for once (last 3 have all been black) , oh and the brakes - wow they are super sharp. What do I miss - the S3 gearbox is smoother and easier to drive in slow moving traffic - but maybe the BM will calm down a bit with use. The backseat passengers get no extras in the BM , it's a pretty basic rear seat with a single tray to put anything in , no side pockets or anything on the back of the seats. But do I care - No, I drive it and don't sit in the back :thumbs up:, and it will depreciate like mad - but maybe the prices will keep up now production of new ones has just stopped.

Nice one, love the colour

An M2 CP is hardly new to the roads though lol but l love the alloys it has plus its full exterior...but colour choice is very restricted though dont like long beach blue/Hockenheim at all....BMW should have given the M2 cp access to it's optional individual paint colour option...The new M2 CS looks awesome in Misano Blue...but l would have an RS3 Saloon all day long before the BMW.....but l can see how folks dig them

Did you go for new or pre-reg? Its a bit of a minefield on them at the moment and I am wondering if I got a good deal myself.

For me it had to have the M2 comfort pack and the M2 plus pack, I only really wanted a Hockenhiem silver one as well.

Prod finished on these now, hence the low interest rates and deals on stock cars.

Be interesting what/when new M2 looks like, and agree on the colour options, but I do like hockenheim.

Despite the Grills, love the look and especially interior of the new M3/M4. Loads of Carbon and then those “optional” seats!!

Same cant be said with RS3 Saloon cant even find a nicely optioned Ex Demo for sale anywhere but that's hardly surprising given it's Audi 4 or 5 years ago Audi use to build Final Editions of their Range topping models in unique exclusive colours schemes.....gone are the days

They now put those sort of options on their launch editions . Which means you pay 'top buck' for them. (apart from matrix lights. They are cheaper) go figure lol

Ended up not getting the one I was going for, when it came from central stock to the dealer it didn't have all the options they had it listed with. So I didn't take it, I had a minimum spec in mind and wasn't prepared to take less than it.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm not meant to have an M2 based on the issues I have run in to, I'm not going to bother now. I will just stick with the TCR until at least the end of March next year, my hope is that there will be better deals then as I don't expect as many people to be buying at that stage, if not its not the end of the world as I still enjoy the TCR.

Can’t ever argue resale of Audi vs. BMW, and even more so RS vs. M’s, Audi wins hands down

Fair enough mate, no point settling. M2 Prod has finished now though hasn’t it? Or am I mistaken...Sue I read TRL saying that a week or so ago, unless he meant done until later in year or next year.

After years of Audis and VW's before them, I'll be trying a BMW next time around. Not keen on Audis new designs, a1/a3/q3 etc and especially disappointed with the interior quality of the new s3. BMW seem to be the only manufacturer who cover the exterior paint colour from the interior door frames with the latest gen as an example of cost cutting. VW and Merc never have but always felt it was properly finished on the current s3 and new 1 series.

Almost jumped on the stratstone m2 pcp at £499 deposit and £499 a month but was withdrawn before I got signed up. So m340i, x3 m40d is the current predicament

That was one heck of a deal on the M2 that TRL, Stratstone and others were doing. You can’t go wrong with M340i or the X3 M40d....I have a x3 M40i and LOVE it! So so much more character, power and muscular stance than my Q5 had.

Those £499 deals were for a no option spec car, I wouldn’t have taken one without the comfort and M2 plus packs.

Im pretty sure if production has not already finished it soon will be, but there still seems to be a fair number in BMW central stock. I understand dealerships will still be taking delivery of these up until the end of the year.

Cheers mate, I am well happy with my new car. Will miss the S3 but I wouldn't have bought the new model , it just doesn't look £40k+ worth of car to me.

Have to agree, I couldn't justify £40k+ for one.

Spec'd car were higher deposit and a £599 per month or more.

The only car there listed at £499 per month was at a deposit of £3700.

Most were £1800 deposit and £599 per month

All were at 8k miles per year, crazy to pay that sort of money and only be able to drive 8k a year

I’m ashamed to say, as much as I hated it a couple of months ago when I first saw pics, I think a m440i will be my next car. The 340 drivetrain and interior I want, with a coupe body the wife wants. And weirdly I’m looking at the front quite liking it for some strange reason ?!

I've just noticed the front drive assist sensor is not central. Anyone with OCD tendencies will stay well clear lol
