Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to share my experience below. I recently got my hands on a low mileage 2001 Audi S3 8L which had been in storage for a while. I am currently recommissioning the car with the help of a local VAG Porsche specialist. I will keep this thread going as I work through the servicing items (cambelt, gear box fluid change, etc)

I can’t wait to get her back on the road!!! Here are some pictures of the process so far.

I just have one little hiccup – I have a skirt end cap missing on the left side of the car. Here is a picture of the part from the righthand side.

Rightside skirt cap

I called Audi and I was told that this part has been discontinued 3 years ago. I believe the part number is 8L7853579. If the part was available, Audi said it would have been around £65. I haven’t had much luck online either. I want the car to look perfect but I am just missing this trim.

Can someone please let me know where I can source the missing left skirt end cap? Any help will be greatly appreciated

You could try Facebook. There is a guy on there call Chris McDermott he breaks these cars and might have one he can send you.

Eternal source of bits that drop off------how you remove these duff posts ??

Its a good / sad time to own one , either a mad refurbishment in progress or parked at the end of the garden with a verity of everlasting bits still on the car, with everything of any real use , collected or posted to far off places , courtesy of 'parcel2go' The only original part of my engine and power train is the transfer box ....
