Bye Bye S3

There is a used RS3 Ssloon l am going to have a look at when l get home dont know the spec though ....most l see for sale have **** options
This one ain't too shabby mate. For the price it's a safe bet till the new shape is released.. As for extras like you said not much out there on the RS3 saloons.

it's not too far from you either:thumbs up:

I take it this would be a long term car rather than a stopgap purchase?

You forgot the ground clearance for when you go shooting each weekend and the massive space at the back for when you buy something or do a tip run :);)
Why would anyone want to go shooting unless it’s clay pigeons?

If the ABT is a no go there is always the JB4.

Looks like they give decent results at a reasonable cost. Was tempted to do the S3 last year but never got round to doing it. Had a quote from an APR franchised garage near me and the quote from memory was just over £600. Also around £450 for the gearbox tune.
I know there is a lot of discussion on the forum regarding which tuner is best for the 2.0 VAG engines. Will have to look up what the consensus is on that.
Cheers buddy

I’d say remap if you don’t care about warranty. JB4 is a decent option if you want to remove for a Dealer visit.

Although if you can buy the ABT tune from a dealer that is basically a plug and play box that sits on the battery top, go look at the pictures of a Cupra St-R Leon with ABT upgrade fitted and you’ll see it under the bonnet on top of the battery.

Do you think it's a big enough of a change to warrant the extra £££ to change though?

There's a lot to think about. It was one of the reasons why I never went ahead with the S3 tune.
With my car being relatively new I'm not sure if I will go ahead yet. We'll see lol.
The reason I was asking specifically about ABT was that it's a factory option to the Cupra brand and would've thought it was a safer bet than others?:readit:

The 5 cylinder engine is a big attraction don't you think? Combine that with a full spec would be the cherry on the cake:yes:

When it first came out I was offered a test drive by the guy that sold me the S3, I just didn't think it was worth the extra money for a bit more noise! I think if I were going around £40k or more on a used car I'd go for something like a Porsche 718 Cayman or a Jag https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202008132439209?

New RS3 saloon £48k no options or:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202006240451190?

I just think it looks the money! But we all have our own ideas...I just think @jassyo06 would suit a 2 seater sports car...don't ask me why I just do :)

The Cayman is great fun! As part of the VW/Audi family they are well put together and reliable.

Between those two examples the main thing to consider is depreciation. The 2020 Jag would be my choice in the colour of the 2018 one.Depreciation would be more compared to the porker I would've thought? Interesting results on the Autotrader expert reviews compared to owners reviews on the 2018 Jag and the porker.:readit:
Seeing as I have my SUV head on eh @jassyo06 and I could stretch the purse string a bit more this would be my choice.....
jeep-grand-cherokee-trackhawk.jpg

For just under another £16k You could get this one

Ok it's not exactly a two seater for old jassy boy lol but you would probably have a lot more fun in it. Especially on the school run:whistle2:

Good thing with the Porsche is you can keep getting a warranty on it up to 14 years old! as you say price will drop slowly compared to most cars of the same value. He doesn't want an suv, he's not in the geriatric group yet! :p

Thought the Rs3 shipped had sailed and 400 hp is of no interest to you as you get older :whistle2: Knew you still had it in you pal:icon thumright:

I enquired about a fully loaded Rs3 last week in an exclusive colour unfortunately it had already sold .
My reason is i just can't make my mind up if i can live with the new shapes interior .

But would you have wanted to take your S3 to these places? ;)
From my own perspective it wouldnt matter how off road capable my car was, I still wouldn't take it off road by choice. :flushed:

Well I can’t imagine wanting an SUV ever but glad you like it... love the scenery.
Recognise we are all different but after almost a years free motoring in a 2009 TT we have just acquired a 4 year old TTS with all the bits for about 45% of new price for Mrs RG. 2years Audi warranty and free services..

same engine as my 18 plate S3 daily driver + Mag ride, VC , B&O and no Vanity plates 30k ish miles... what’s not to like.

I’m probably in the geriatric group but reckon I will probably get a years free motoring with a new Porsche Targa 4S. Currently, due to short supply, they are advertised at £15-20k over list price. You do need to have the capital to make it work but with poor interest rates due to Brexit Bolloxcks and Covid etc why not?

Looking good mate, did you ever contact Martin at Unit20 about tuning it???
Cheers buddy:icon thumright:
Haven't been in touch yet.
Been occupied with other projects the past few months so haven't thought about it to be honest.
I'm sure if I decide to go for a tune then I will definitely be in touch with Martin.:salute:

Ha ha.. Been halfway up that track with the S3 twice...I didn't like it much.:scared2:
As for choice well our usual way up is in the middle of being re surfaced so was forced to go the long way which takes us up the top from the other side. The scenery is awesome up there so thought I would take a couple of shots. I feel privileged to live in a place where this is on my doorstep.

Maybe I'm just getting old and fed up of cars...but I'm thinking maybe a sporty looking suv is the way to go! Thinking is get a car that you can do the most with...I even thought an suv would be handy to do a tip run the other day!!!

You'd be in safe hands mate, I was meant to post my dashcam video of what he had in there when I took mine in last month, loads of RS's and even a couple of Lamborghinis!!! He'd just put a £7,000 Akrapovic exhaust system on a brand new RSQ8 which had been collected from Crewe Audi and driven straight to him!!!

Just looked up reviews on Google for Unit20. They seem to know their stuff.:thumbs up:
I've abused the wife's Q3 long enough so having an suv of my own which is fast as well as practical to me it makes perfect sense.
I emptied my garden shed a couple of months ago into my Cupra and dumped it all in my mum's garage. All done in one trip. Now that my new workshop is built I will have the same trip again.. Trust me mate a fast and versatile suv is definitely the way to go. There are plenty of members on here who have gone the same way @Jcbmally is a perfect example and I'm sure he will say the same. :rockwoot:
