My s3 v6 build

Im not sure, from what I just seen online it was basically swap the lot it the drp box , when I ordered my injectors I was speaking to the guy at rushworth performance and he was asking what I’m doing and said to do the forks and 4th support as a minimum which I was planning to do anyway but also maybe change the gear set for tdi, from what I seen would give low rpm at 70-80mph in 6th for motorway driving

This was something I was looking into, best TDI gearbox to get those gearsets from are from an FEL code 02M Quattro Box. But they are rare as rocking horse sh1t. Like PT said Martin from Gas&Gears is the man you want to speak to. They’ve close the workshop for 3 weeks now, but he knows all the ins and outs. For instance he said be very careful when buying the 4th input support.... he is having to rework these because the quality isn’t there anymore. With the power your thinking of going for personally I’d be inclined to go monster performance gearset like I’m doing. Gives you piece of mind, these are solid for over 1000bhp.

Yeah I seen him mention the 4th gear support on Facebook, I will look into the monster gearsets, not in a rush to do itneed to get the car started yet but, I’ve decided I need to go work for myself so have enrolled on My Domestic gas course and then the commercial gas. It’s what hav done since leaving school and have been saying it for years, so that’s another £6k I have to spend elsewhere and fit car parts in around it , I mean realistically I’m not that far off

If making custom water lines what material is best stainless steel? Any particular grade?

@<tuffty/> do you think the hosetails where the water feeds for the throttle could be used for the turbo feed and return

Ermmm... Not convinced there is the flow there tbh... I actually haven't given it a lot of thought other than potentially using the secondary rad outlets as the coolant feed/return

<tuffty/>

Also considered using the path set for the dsg oil cooler

Minor man your making progress which is important. Rather take your time and do it right. Atleast you've got the r32 to drive
True had an Auto Electrican out to the r32 the boot had stopped opening, I’ve been thinking for a while about trading the r32 in want an evo or a scooby but they do basic inside but they are a proper drivers car you don’t buy them for creature comforts

I do quite like the old school scoobies..... but there engines are pigs to work on. On that basis I’d be incline with an Evo

Yeas definitely not sure on a evo 6 or evo 10 the scooby blocks are very thin and easily broken where the evo has a cast block and remaps quite well

I have a s3 oil filter and pick up pipe and standard air filter if Anybody needs them will put them up shortly

Deffo Evo 6. Really good chassis, solid engine. I know the interiors of the older jap cars are naff.... the newer stuff has more tech but that’s more to go wrong.

Plus an Evo 6 will go up in value sooner than a 10

I’d love the classic shape in a type r or p1 but are well over 20k if I went Subaru would have to be a sti at least and either the blob eye/ Hawkeye or the classic and have to be a saloon. The r32 is a good car just never enjoyed driving it as much as the s3 and it’s just a bit boring to me

That’s the problem with NA cars. I’ve driven a few different Audi’s on a test day. R8 v10, RS5, TTRS. The more fun to drive was the TTRS. The others felt flat and predicable

Tj I know this has probably already been asked but what power roughly do these engines take before having to forge them when you whack a turbo on ?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

About 450- 500 bhp max but you still need to take the head off and fit a spacer gasket and alter the timing chain guide to suit, so might aswell do it anyway cost wise probably cheaper to getting the power with standard block, to turbo a 3.2 especially when you have to buy the engine, gearbox and other supporting bit like 3.2 hoses, engine mounts, and fab work for turbo feeds, ecu, fmic pipework, air intake it’s at least 7k if you do the work yourself I think mine is over that and I still Need ecu, turbo, and custom downpipe ,

Yeah I can imagine the limits are endless though And I bet it’s ****** reliable

I don’t know about reliability usually adding a turbo to things not meant to have a turbo isn’t reliable , going over Say 600bhp would need lower compression forged pistons and one thing is options for parts are limited and usually over priced and don’t have the wide choice For parts like you do on the 1.8t platform

Doing the VR turbo is working out cheaper than building a 600hp 20v for me tbh... engine wise at least... and ignoring the fun with clutches that I had lol

Tbh I half wish I just bought a 2nd forged engine for 2k and I’d be done, but I have really have enjoyed the learning curve and taking the task on And the other half off me wishes I got forged pistons instead of a head gasket spacer

Your going well there TJ. 7k and still more to go that's going to be expensive when it's done but will be a rocket when done so suppose the expensive will not matter so much then lol.
