Bye Bye S3

For anyone interested here is my S3 for sale...

It's got genuine low mileage and is mechanically sound with full history with mixed main dealer and specialist. It's had the important DSG and Haldex service done. The only negatives I would say is the alloys are not 100% and could do with some tlc. The tyres are all virtually new Pirelli P zero's only covered 2k ish?? Had I not seen the Cupra I have just bought then I would've been happy to keep it.:thumbs up:
If anyone is thinking of going to look at it then do please feel free to ask any questions..it would be nice to see it go to another member on the fotum.:salute:
Ps I am not selling it on behalf of the garage..As far as I'm concerned it's no longer my car..

Great car @pburv , been working to much lately so first time I've caught up with the forum in a while. They seem to be a popular choice around my neck of the wood. High position- check, practical - check, quick - check. Enjoy it mate, oh and bye the way. The un-official 0-60 is 4.8secs

And the reliability and customer service of Skoda rubs it in.

Oil change service on my wife's citigo next month is €105. Includes wash and vac (if you want it) and zero charge for a courtesy car.

Great looking Ateca Cupra buddy. Really suits that colour IMHO - congrats :thumbs up:
I loved my Leon Cupra & had intended to buy it at the end of the 2 year lease, but the wife decided we should go caravaning so that changed all that lol
Welcome to the Suv club Paul :D

PS Quite a rare beast the Ateca Cupra's

Lol Cheers mate...I missed your thread on the X3 also. Awesome looking X3 and a clearly capable beast..Like the mansion it's towing too lol
We are a two suv family now as the wife has a Q3 which she didn't like me getting dirty every weekend lol So the Cupra made perfect sense to me. Off road capability plus the grunt I had in the S3.:thumbs up:
Other than the one I saw in the showroom I haven't seen another one at all on the road so yeah I guess quite exclusive:whistle2:

Bang on mate, as long as you are happy who gives a fig what other people think. It ticks all the boxes that you are looking for in a car and it's paid for! ;)

Out of interest have you had an insurance quote? Just wondered how it compares with the S3.
Just had my quote for the year £276.23 with Hastings Direct.I have just under three weeks to look for a cheaper quote. Not bad to be fair as it's very close to what I paid last year for the S3 .:icon thumright:

Yeah it's quick. If I was critical I would say it's a tad slower off the mark compared to the S3...not much but is noticeable. 1,615Kg compared to 1,505Kg for the S3.:racer:

lol I added 1.5 stone whilst being off, I went back last Monday 17th and I've dropped 9lbs of that already! Soon be back to normal.

Yeah he looked at a VRS the other day, the insurance quote was only £50 less than the cost of the car! A few years back his insurance was double the value of his car!!!

Similarly, Paul, or just the same; since having our SQ5 18-months ago our TT and RS3 are just providing 'attractive-filling' for our garage space; the SQ5 seemingly does everything we want/need these days - sounding just the same as you and your Seat Cupra Ateca: enjoy :hi:

The Tiguan R should be a great car mate but yeah 50k is a bit steep. I have noticed used car prices have crept up quite a bit. Try the usual web sites and get a quote. You might be pleasantly surprised??
Used car prices are rising due to a number of factors. 1. The shortage of new cars, 2. The price of new cars rising significantly due to the fall/devaluation of the £ due to the B word . 3. Shortages due to uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and the approach being taken.
Avoiding talking politics as this is a car forum but simple economics is ok apparently.

Yep good news for me though as my last pcp payment is in 2 weeks and then I can buy it off Audi finance for £18,900 :)

Earlier in the year I was getting quotes of £19k and below for my A5, since then I've had £19,500 last month, £19,850 a few weeks back from Sytner Audi and then the other day I had an email saying my price had gone up again...looked and it was:

Audi

Just done an Arnold Clark quote which doesn't allow for my options:

Ac quote

So I'm 100% buying it for £18,900...I'm happy with that as it's worth more than I owe which I didn't expect :) Plus it will be nice not having any monthly payments going out.

Check your local dealer franchise. I think you will find that they are always willing to buy your car as stock..Even more so if it's a well spec'd one and low miles.

No more pcp’s for me mate. Next car will be trade this in and pay the difference and keep for 5 years. Even then if my car use/miles stays the same it will only be on about 20,000 mile!!!

I was out yesterday and saw a white Z4 with the roof down....it did look nice! My car plus £10k gets me in a 2020 pre reg one!

But I feel it’s a bit too ‘look at me’....flash git.

It’s the final figure on the pcp deal. I was going to buy it earlier and save a few quid on interest, but was advised by someone on here to take it to the end to see how things change and to kept my options open. If prices had gone the other way I could have just handed it back, as it is they they have gone up! So I’ll hold onto it until I see something I really want.

Ask yourself why the big discount and pre reg? They can't sell them. Plus on resale you will take a big hit too. Good news on PCP but don't be too rigid on when to sell. My first B9 RS4 cost me about £320 a month (x18mths) in depreciation. Q3 (x4mths) only slightly less. Buy with best discount, keep your eye on prices etc.

That seems like an amazing price!
About 3 weeks before I got my CLA in June I had to renew my S3 insurance and Admiral were the cheapest for the first time ever. I am 53 with a perfect driving record for 20+ years, post code is rated as second lowest, 6000 limited mileage, garaged, £150 compulsory with £100 voluntary, yet the annual premium was still £377.
When I changed to my CLA 250 I got a £40 refund but for some reason my compulsory excess went up to £350 with no voluntary.

Car insurance is totally baffling to me.
