A3 overheating

Hi there

I have a audi a3 8p 2.0tdi. I have had some overheating issues. The car is fine while driving through town or doing 50/60 mph but any hard acceleration or speeds over 60 it overheats. I have changed my thermostat and radiator and still the problem is there. Also my heatars on my car blow cool air when the car is idling but as soon as i put some revs down it goes hot. Not sure is this has any link to my overheating problem. Any suggestions would be great

When your car reach 90 degrees (normal temps) feel the coolant tubes. Do they get hot? When they don't you need to check your waterpump, it's not pumping the coolant around. Audi uses a plastic wheel to incite the pump. Those break easily.

When you are going to replace the waterpump do your timing belt aswell since most of the time those things sell as a kit.

The top hose going into the top of the radiator is hot but the bottom hose from radiator is cold. Is likely due to waterpump issues?

Then I would dive deeper into pump issue yes. The bottom hose is a bit cooler obiously because it went through the radiator, but it can be icecold.

Make sure to wait a few mins since the coolwater begins flowing around when the car is on 90 degrees temp and the thermostat opens. So let the car run for 10/15min and then feel both hoses or measure the temps. Best is to get vcds obviously.

If the temp wont rise then you know there is a flow issue somewhere, maybe the pump maybe then radiator efc.

Not sure if you got this sorted or not. I had very similar issues on my a3 tfsi, and was convinced it was the waterpump, turns out it was a fault coolant temperature sensor. If you haven't sorted it, and you still have this issue, I would pop the sensor out, give it a clean and just make sure the o ring is still in good nick.
