Hi all, I want to get new rims for my car as I am currently on stock 16” rims, badly need an upgrade, what would you recommend between 18” or 19”

18" for less road noise and a little more comfort and 19" to fill the arches....I would recommend lowering to complete the look:thumbs up:

Would definitely say 19s on the saloon. Do all saloons come with magnetic ride or is it just S3?

Is there a massive loss in comfort between the two, that’s my main worry

You have A3 saloon and 16'' wheels ?? what? standard is 18' or 19'' you should have already ... Or ?

Unfortunately I think it’s just S3

Yes S3 only had them fitted as standard from late 2014 onward. From what I gather if you wanted 19" rims as an option from factory you had to have mag ride fitted?

The wife had a Seat Leon with 18" wheels for a while whilst I had my S3 saloon and I would say the extra noise was noticeable on 19's. Couldn't comment on the comfort as my car had mag ride fitted. At the end of the day I think it goes down to how you want the car to look. With the saloon A3 19" would look better than 18". Whichever you decide on you really need to lower it.:thumbs up:

That is correct....... I have an S3 with Magride and 19" rims. I would not go larger than 18" unless you have Magride, you will be in for a rough ride on standard suspension
Edit: note 235/35/19 tyres are the tyre size of choice on 19" rims and will also be a stiffer ride

A lot depends on your tyre choice and wheel weight. For instance, my 19" repllica with Assy5 tyres was more comfortable and quieter than oem 18" alloys with dunlop sport maxx rt tyres. My new 19" alloys with dunlop sport maxx rt2 tyres are quieter than old assy5 but less comfortable due to 900 g of extra weight to each corner.

I have standard 18" on my S3, which I find is perfect, I dont feel the need to go bigger.
