Hi I picked up my new s3 in February with the new gpf filters on.
Coming from a 16 plate s3 I was disappointed with the sound
Had a custom resonator delete on Friday if anyone is interested I’ll put some before and after videos up

I agree the new cars suck, but doing this will void everything on the warranty including any engine issues so you could be stuck with possible £10,000+ bill for a faulty engine.

Actually, it only voids the exhaust warranty, the rest of the warranty is fine.

I didn't think my res delete made a difference but go for the Milltek GPF delete and decat and it sounds amazing.

I don't think doing a Res delete will void the warranty on the engine or any other component just the exhaust

Would definitely be interested on the before and after. I have just jumped ship from a 65 plate S3 to a 68 plate Cupra Ateca. It has basically the same engine and running gear of the f/l S3. My car has the GPF filter fitted but for some reason it still 'crackles and pops' on overrun. I have checked underneath and it is a different exhaust fitted compared to my S3. Do the GPF fitted S3's 'crackle' on overrun or has it been muted?

It’s almost definitely been muted, it does crackle a little bit more now with the res delete I’ll upload the videos now

The video I posted is how the Cupra is standard..So the standard S3 is quieter then?
If so I wonder what is different?

Not to sure what would be different?
Here is the before

And the after

Not sure if I’ve done it right

Annoyingly mine didn't sound as good as this after the res delete, didn't even have any muted pops or crackles on overrun, just slightly deeper.

Think I seen yours on YouTube is it on there?

How much does it cost for a basic removal to make my 2.0TDI to sound a bit meatier ?
Dont wont pops or bangs, just a bit muscle sound, but nothing too loud, dont want to sound like a chav

It cost £110 for the res delete, can always be put back on. A place in Deeside not sure if your near there, called long life.

Im in bridgend SW
But appreciate the price, seems like a good value.
Does it add anything to the HP of the vehicle allowing it to breath more?

Not sure it would add much HP as it’s a very small mod. Maybe very slight but nothing that you would notice really

Mine does sound the same as yours with res delete. Maybe that's what Cupra have done different to the exhaust that was on my S3?
Not complaining as I think it's a giggle and not chav at all:whistle2:

It’s not to over the top I just wanted a bit more sound as it was far too quiet Imo.
It does crackle on over run now, I’m thinking changing the back box flow for a bit extra but this will do for now.

I think you will probably be looking at £1500 plus for a decent cat back system. Something like Cobra for instance?
Yours sounds good though:thumbs up:

Won't be mine buddy it made that little difference I never bothered with any videos

I've taken videos of the exhaust now with the Milltek pipe but they arent on the Internet.

Any way you can get them over to me?

Course I can buddy DM me your number and if youve got WhatsApp I can send them over no bother at all.

That applys to anyone else that wants to know what the GPF delete sounds like and I'm happy to discuss what costs were involved as well to help people out

Are you sure about that? From experience, Audi will find any excuse to not pay out when there is an expensive repair bill. I personally wouldn't chance it if you care about your warranty. That said, some audi dealerships offer miltek systems, but at least if they do the work it 100% does not void the warranty.

I’ve been told by an Audi tech and had it confirmed in a subsequent email that it won’t void my warranty on the whole car, although any subsequent claims on the exhaust would be void. Although the tech did mention that messing with the downpipe would void the engine warranty too?

I’m not sure if a res delete would effect warranty on a GPF car though as I’m not sure where the sensors are held etc. I know people doing these GPF deletes on YouTube etc technically speaking makes your car illegal on UK roads.

Yes i'am pretty sure tho I could be wrong :grinning: Yes Audi would try and wiggle out of any expensive warranty work if they had half a chance and
is the reason i am keeping my car standard .

I can’t believe how quiet they have made the GPF S3’s one drove past me the other day and sounded like a totally different car to mine. Mine was a lot of louder after a res delete too when I was looking at my previous sound clips earlier.

Yes the GPF cars do sound terrible compared to the 66/18 cars . I bought my car not knowing about the GPF filters unfortunately .
My neighbour as a 66 plate S3 and it sickens me every time he drives by .

Yeah when I swapped my S5 for another S3 I made sure I got another pre-GPF model, ended up with a 17 plate so not brand new and it took a few weeks of searching before the right one came up.

Audi salesman was getting a bit impatient waiting for me to commit and buy something new they had in stock and tried to make out there was no sound difference!

I didn't even test drive mine as I've owned an S3 8V before i didn't think there would be a difference what a mistake that was
To be honest I've just got used to the sound now as I've had it nearly 18 month .

I’ll be changing the back box flow on mine in a few weeks time so I’ll report back if that makes any more changes to sound etc

I was in the same boat as you I wasn't made aware about the GPF filters when I bought it but I just assumed it was needing run in and didn't think much of it but it never got better even with the res delete.

Plus I was getting a remap anyway so it would be daft of me not to go all out!

I still reckon Audi might turn round and complain, but at last with an email from the dealership you could hold them accountable. Guard it with your life and make many back ups of it.

Mate, when you say ‘GPF delete’ would that be what the GPF bypass is referred to that Milltek are doing or is that something completely different?
Just want my S3 to sound better than it does now and I’m not sure how to go about it as cheaply as possible!

From what I know there’s only one way to delete the GPF which is by removing it. Don’t think it can be mapped out unless I’m wrong.

Best bang for your buck is a res delete without getting a totally new exhaust system. I’ve just took my res delete off my S3 as I’ve sold it and I couldn’t believe how quiet it was when it had been removed and the original resonator was put back on. Very muted pops and bangs and that is on the pre-GPF model so I can’t imagine how quiet the GPF models are. Plus you won’t void the warranty on the rest of your car unlike removing the GPF, which is also a MOT failure.

If you are interested in a res delete I’ve got an anti drone one up for sale in the classifieds.
