Facelift 2020 A4 B9.5 dynamic headlights

Hello guys,

New to the forum and just got my 2020 audi a4 sline 35tfsi facelift. Loving the car so far but just wondering if anyone could help me with some questions.

Does the a4 sline variant comes with a dynamic headlights? the one that has animation when unlocking the car? See video below from youtube. or does this only comes with s4 variants?

The flowing indicators and signature front and rear LEDs are a feature of the Matrix headlights which are standard on the RS4 and are fitted exclusively on the Vorsprung models. They are not available as an option on any other trim lines, Sport, S Line or S4.

I've this exact same question for my 2020MY A5 Sportback S-Line.

It comes with matrix headlights as standard and despite having dynamic front and rear indicators, there is no 'dancing' illumination when the car is locked or unlocked.

Scoot1e, your explanation doesn't make sense saying you need matrix lights and I have them as standard.

I tried building one on audi site and theres no option for matrix LED lights for S-line. Thought all 2020 A4 comes with matrix headlight but I was wrong.

Also tried searching for a matrix headlight but cant see one

2020 / 2021MY have full LED lights all round (including LED headlights) as standard on the A4 S-Line; with dynamic rear indicators and reguar front turn signals. Matrix is an option on this variant.

The A5 S-Line (including the Sportback I have) has full LED lights all round and matrix headlights as standard on 2020 (facelift B9.5) and 2021MY

Despite that, I haven't the dancing illumination despite having maxtrix

@HMG1K Yes your A5 S Line does come with matrix lights as standard, but as I posted the RS4 and Vorsprung are the only A/S4s which have them. There is no available option to spec these. On the A/S5 range the Edition 1 and Vorsprung have the Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser light, dynamic light sequencing and dynamic indicators as part of their standard spec.

Hi guys, it seems that some guys from Serbia were already able to activate the animation on an A4 B9.5 with LED taillights (w/o matrix led for headlights) - check Code_expert page on Insta.
I am also interested in the subject as my Audi A5 MY2021 will arrive in few weeks and I ordered it with Matrix LED , but w/o Laser so from factory I shouldn't have the animation - hopefully it can be activated as well via VCP.

You actually need physically different LED headlights & taillights to get the animations - you can do all the coding in the world on the standard LED and Matrix LED lamps but it will do diddly squat.

It’s a bit of a gimmick. Have matrix / laser lights on my S5 and they do what I can only describe as a Kinghtrider Kit routine sweeping left/right and back again a few times with a finishing blue tinge ,, ( those of a certain vintage only will get that ..).. utterly pointless and you never see it as always walking away from the car when you lock it ..

OBDEleven and Carista have the option to code the animated lights (100 credits for OBD). I followed the instructions, the details say as long as you have front-end rear dynamic indicators it will work... it didn't! Got my credit back but OBD said something or other saying it wouldn't work. That on my B9.5 A5 Sportback with Matrix lights and dynamic front and rear indicators.

I also tried using OBD11 on my 2020 A6 Black Edition with Matrix lights. It did diddly squat. As I said earlier, you need different headlamps, ones which are fitted to RS4, RS5, RS6 etc models etc for sweeping animations to work.
