Hi All,

Have spent some time online looking and trying to do a bit of homework, but thought I'd ask the guys in the know to clarify...

Have owned my M4 comp from new and today it goes...RS3 is what I'm most likely looking to replace it with.

Am looking to buy used this time and ideal spec is nardo grey, sports seats, sports exhaust, black 5 spoke wheels, B&O, matrix lights.

Some of the ads online are pretty poor and don't list many details and I feel calling to ask the dealers questions half the time they are clueless (hence I'm here).

With the sports exhaust is the easiest way to tell by the black tips? Or can you have the standard exhaust and get back tips with something like the design pack?

Secondly, matrix headlights is the main way to tell by the indicators? Or is there a way visually in pictures I can do from viewing adverts?

Cheers
Steve

From memory, matrix headlights also have the dynamic indicators on the front so that is an easy tell and yes, only the sports exhaust has the black tips unless someone has painted the standard ones.

PFL the exhaust is chrome, whether Sports Exhaust or not.
FL the sports exhaust is black, standard exhaust chrome.

Also the PFL sports exhaust has a little interconnecting pipe on the left pipes
You’ll see it if looking up at them.

The FL doesn’t have them on the Sports exhaust, just black tips.

Pano roof over B&O all day. Pano and B&O weren’t on my want list, but once i drove a car with sports exhaust and pano I was sold. It lets so much noise it. Which means you can enjoy that 5 pot all the more. I also have B&O, it’s spectacular sounding, but it literally only gets switched on for long journeys.

My current Audi is the first one that doesn’t have the upgraded sound system and I must say it’s desperately poor. Even listening to the radio is hard work with it.

Pano roof is a great option as it just lifts the otherwise dark cabin as well as allowing more sound from the sports exhaust in!

B&O also great although never experienced the standard system.

Matrix lights are great if you do a lot of night driving but I could take or leave them! Had issues on my previous S4 when I had the windscreen replaced and they never worked properly after ghat even with numerous visits to Audi!

SS seats and sports exhaust are a no brainer.

Mag ride also a big plus.

If you’re ok with the OPF RS3 2019+ then the Sport Edition gives SS Seats, pano roof, sports exhaust and black optics pack.

Good luck finding the right car.

Try find the right car (2017-2018) with the Audi sport package (active TPMS, sports exhaust and mag ride), comfort and sound back (B&O, reverse cam, keyless), black pack (aluminium pack only looks good on black card IMO), hold assist, folding mirrors, pan roof, driver assistance pack, matrix lights, RS design pack, aluminium race design inlays, red callipers....perfect spec imo.

Oh yeah mag ride and black optics are a must. Not to gloat, I feel so lucky I found a 2nd hand spec exactly as I wanted from the factory. I even found the order sheet when I was going to buy one new in 2018, and the model I got pre-loved was exactly the same. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the replies all!

At the moment there two main ones on the list to view tomorrow...

First is nardo grey, but standard seats, lights and sound system

Second is black, but sports seats, B&O plus matrix lights.

Personally I prefer the look of the nardo, however the black is a much better spec I can't ignore it...

Sports exhaust is a must (had the titanium system in my M4) and B&O is also like. Similar to others, most of the time I will have the window down to listen to the noise. But for a rare occasion the window is up I do prefer a better system.

Matrix lights I think I could go either way with but more a nice to have.

Both cars in tempted by are late 17 / early 18 as I want to avoid opf cars

Had both blacks (Metallic and pearl) and Nardo grey RS cars. All good colours so would go with what feels right. Although I will say Nardo is a great colour to keep clean and looking swirl free!
