Hi.
My 2015 s3 saloon came with the most basic sound system so I’m going to add in a front centre speaker and the spare wheel D&M sub woofer

The boot in my s3 is way shallower than the a3. Will I run in to fitment issues or will it sit in the wheel well just the same

thanks

Hy, this is installed in the spare wheel or without spare wheel, but you can installe this the sound it's not much better, iff you want a better sound than you need retrofit the full B&O sound system.
In my girlfriend A3 i have started like you with the center speaker and the soubufer, like I said the sound still garbage, after that I have retrofit the B&O and I have found a good sound in this car
So, my vice it's don't spend money for nothing, put directly a good thing in your car

I completely understand. As much as I’d love the B&O I don’t think I’m willing to dismantle my interior that much

This it's a little more work plus iff you ready instal the front and the rear speakers
You need the 4 doors panels 3 screw each
And the basse plastic the right side
So 12 screw and some plastic more i things it's worth

Rubbish!

I retrofit the Audi sound system front centre and rear sub’s all the time and it makes a profound difference to the quality and volume over the basic system if done correctly, even more if you add front door speakers to the mix.

subwoofer can be installed anywhere in the boot but spare whee is the default position. Important thing to note is that bass is non-directional.

Rubbish it's wat I found, every person having a different perspective off a good quality sound, for my the audi sound system it's exactly the same sound like my Ford transit 2008
So for my it's rubbish, it's the first car I have without the best sound system and i have found it very very bad
All my audi have bosse system, including my A3 8P

While I agree sound is indeed subjective your review is not accurate. You want audio file quality then you won’t find it in any Audi, even with B&O but upgrading the basic Audi A3 8V speaker system with front centre and rear sub makes a big difference if retrofitted and coded correctly, and is a very cost effective solution.

Thanks for the reply. I’m gonna do it anyway. When you say add front door speakers to the mix?

I offer two options for an Audi Sound System Retrofit:

Audi Sound System
  • Front Centre Speaker
  • Rear Subwoofer
  • Coding and Activation of the above
or

Audi Sound System Plus
  • Front Centre Speak
  • Rear Subwoofer
  • Front Door Speaker (upgrade from 20watt 4ohm to 40watt 2ohm)
  • Coding and Activation of the above
The second option is very popular and provides more bass and volume.

. I’m about to start ordering parts off eBay for my speaker upgrade. Before I do, do you sell the sound system plus as a pack?

Supply and fit only. Not worth my while to supply just the parts I am afraid.

Yeah no worries. Just thought I’d try and give you a bit of business since you’ve been so helpful. Can the speakers be coded with VCDS once installed or do they need more?

Unfortunately this retrofit cannot be completed with VCDS alone. I can code and activate your installation once completed.

I’ve done the Audi Sound System Plus and I think it does make an improvement in sound quality. It does vary on the medium and I find at times I am adjusting base and tone levels to obtain optimum sound quality.

The biggest gain is more base at lower sound levels.

As mentioned it’s all subjective but for the money I would say it’s worth it.

I intend on getting DJalix to do this on my car soon. The main problem with the existing basic sound system is with the bass turned up to 3 oclock to get it to a decent level (what I think is a decent level) then the overall sound level just doesn't go loud enough hitting the internal limiter. Sure, the quality is never going to be amazing but having a sub and not having to boost the bass would make a lot of difference to me, hence going for that option. if you want much better overall quality it means either fitting the B&O or better still going for a custom install and believe me that is NOT cheap.

I can vouch for @DJAlix, I had his 'basic' upgrade and whilst I'm not an audiophile by any means I do listen to music the whole time I'm in the car and I found it to be a huge improvement and went plenty loud enough for me, any louder and you'll be going deaf I think! Definitely the most worthwhile mod I did to my car, though the resonator delete was pretty awesome too :)

I did most of the mod myself and @DJAlix did the config and door speakers. As above Alex knows what he’s doing.

Yep. looking forward to getting it done. Gotta clear the debt from all the other repairs first really.
