3G High 2020 Map Update

Hi everyone,

I know there are loads of various threads on MMI Map updates, "I'm on this firmware, what do I need" etc.
This one's a little different.

Basically, having spent hours trying to pick through various threads, numerous downloads of various torrents / MEGA download links, I bit the bullet and spent £49 on a complete firmware update / 2020 maps and activator kit from EBay.

I'm pleased to say it was an absolute doddle - it comes with really clear instructions, didn't take long and (most importantly) I've been driving around and the maps work absolutely perfectly.

I had a really, really old version of Maps / firmware and it's updated perfectly.

If anyone is thinking about getting the map update, but is put off by the sheer amount of research / downloading/ formatting of cards etc, then I'm selling this kit on for £35

Apologies to admins if this in the wrong section / not allowed / frowned upon - I'm not trying to make money here, but I've no use for it anymore and it's too good to not share with the group.

Can these kits be used more than once? I thought they came with a once-only product key.
 
Used as many times as you like it has a third party activator on the memory card

I'm not sure, but I don't see a way it could be blocked as the activator is done by inserting the SD card, and I made sure the write protection tab was in the "locked" position so no data could be written back to the card.

Have you sold these? I’m still on the original map from 2009 when the car was made!

Yup, thought I'd hold onto them for a while!

I was in the same boat - original maps that came with the car. Have to say it's not just a case of "adding the new roads" - there is loads more detail on the existing roads too :)

Ahh damn haha,

yeah I need to, you got a link for the ones you bought from eBay?
 
Don't want to scupper your sale but it's really not too hard to update the firmware and maps, I followed the instructions on A5OC and it's working brilliantly.
Admittedly you need a bit of computer savvy to format SD cards etc but fairly simple stuff

I work in IT - I sunk hours of research into making sure I was downloading the right things etc. The main thing I struggled to find was a link to the latest maps - all the torrent files were incomplete, so I figured I'd just pay the money and get it delivered to me on three readily made cards.

Ha really!? Oh wish I ****** asked on here now, but there were so many "I've got XYZ, do I need G to do ABC" threads I figured I'd do it myself.

Oh well, I'll hang on to it for the forseeable - if anyone wants to take the easy option then give me a shout, if you want DIY then hit up HertS3!
 
Lol I don't purport to be an expert on this, just someone that managed to do it himself!! I can certainly give the Magnet link to the 2020 maps torrent though :)

Has anyone else found that the car doesn't store the home address after the updates? Minor issue as you can bring it up from recent destinations, and probably a good thing in case someone steals your keys and then knows where you live!
 
I was once recommended to set the home address as a local police station for just such a possibility...

The half year 2020/2021 update has been released 8R0 060 884 HF map 6.31.1.
 
Hi Guys, i am new to all this, trying to figure it all out, struggling to find the map files. is there anybody out there who can share a download link to the latest maps for a Q5.

It’s not that simple. Which MMI do you have? What is your current firmware version? What is your current map version?
I suggest you read the threads over on A5OC to gain some background and learn the update process.
 
I gave up trying to find it for free and bought the maps from eBay along with all the firmware updates and activation thing. Took a couple of hours and it worked perfectly. Cost me £60and included the SD cards.
