Hi all, just installed a dashcam that's powered by the 12v socket. It has a park protect mode in it that detects lack of power and use onboard battery to lower usage and record based on coalition (park protect as it's called). However, the 12v socket in my 2019 A3 doesn't seem to lose power when the car is switched off so it stays powered and draws power. This over time will obviously drain the battery, is there any way of setting something so that the socket is only powered when the ignition is on? Thanks.

I had the same thing in my old Focus. It never actually drained my battery, but I was driving it everyday.
My mechanic couldnt figure out why it had continues power, but worked great for me, 24-7 recording.

There’s a fuse in the fuse panel that can be moved between 2 slots to control whether the socket is ignition only or hot all the time. It’s the same for a lot of VW/Audi.

Thanks for the reply, I know the current fuse should be F40 according to the manual. However I can't see a free slot in the manual that would be somewhere else for it to plug into? Any idea on its position?

The position of F40 can be shifted up to be in line with the other fuses. This controls hot all the time/ignition only.

Thank you!
I was looking at the service book and it showed in in a different position!
I'll go have a look now.

Thats cool. I’ll use that to make mine hot all the time - does that also control the one in the boot of a sport back?
