Switch from Audi S3 to BMW M340i?

Hi guys, i have a 2019 Audi S3 which has been a great car so far and ticks all the boxes i need which are practicality, AWD, fast and cheap to run. The only drawback of the car is the ****** harsh suspension (non magnetic suspension) and numb/vague steering. I was thinking of switching to something similar in price but more exciting to drive and better sounding.

Currently used 2019 M340i's in the UK are selling from £36k and come very well equipped from factory with adaptive suspension being standard. I paid £30k for my S3 new. Do you think the difference in the cars is significant enough to warrant the switch?.

Agreed the Bimmer looks stunning in that shade of blue.

I had mag ride on my RS3 and found it very bouncy - something reported by many owners of S3 & RS3.

I was looking at a S3 when I saved up a bit more cash, you are the second person in a matter of a few weeks to say the same.

Very fast car but not very fun to drive.

I was going to buy a 1 series due to the rear wheel drive but all the 1 series, 3 series, 5, and X cars had serious issues with the timing chain up until 2012/13 and couldn't find a nice model in my price range.

The BMW is a nice car, and unlike Audi they are very well equipped from standard.

The price of my car was crazy and didn't even have reverse sensors, but always wanted a A3, I wish I had the cash for this beautiful ride.
Take it for a spin and see how you feel, but don't be a **** BMW driver and not use your indicators or wave when people let you out lol.

The two cars are chalk and cheese. Drive it and see. Ride is hugely dependent on tyres too, mag ride +19” wheels = very firm ride. Less so in 18” wheels. As to “fun” in driving, you’re not on a track or racing. For everyday use the 4wd is superb. Make an error and it’s very forgiving. Do the same in the beemer and you’ll be decorating the countryside.

I'd say do it as I've done the same (Although the S3 is still in the family), but a good test drive should be done first. Everything about cars is very subjective down to the individual.

For everyday use the 4wd is superb. Make an error and it’s very forgiving. Do the same in the beemer and you’ll be decorating the countryside.

Obviously this doesn't apply here with X drive. You can lessen the AWD in sport plus mode but in comfort and sport it's just as secure as the S3 only better to drive as it's rear biased.

M340i is xdrive mate...so 4WD

If you are buying cash, fair enough, but if financing may as well go new as monthlies will be way lower.

M340i is rapid! Def drive one as others have said.

Wouldn't that be the new M2 for comparison ? Although ones a drivers car the other a straight line blaster.

I suppose, but new M3 will/May have option to turn off xdrive. Pricing of M3 (admittedly bade) not far off RS3, and new one likely to be more than current.
