I haven't read the whole of that thread yet Rob, but I just don't get the hype of an "after market upgraded Carlos Fandango" one. Is it all a bit King's new clothes?
Mine, on a diesel, was OEM. It wasn't in bad nick (posted a photo) at 155k and I would think it was original. I replaced it with a Borg and Beck one of similar quality and notice no difference in vibration even at 155k.

Interesting thread there Rob and for me at least underlines the whole value of forums like this. Who would have thought that such a simple part that I at least would never have given a second thought to could make so much difference in changing / replacing?

I got a Powerflex yellow replacement mount, that was in itself very easy to fit, and surprisingly after having read the thread, has next to no vibration at idle.

The difference is incredible. Totally different car, much better on the road, in a very subjective yet very obvious sort of way. Best money spent.

Having said that, the old foam mount had basically fallen off, so I have no doubt that any replacement would have made a huge difference, and so therefore have real idea of what the margin of difference that the powerflex has made and so would not necessarily say go and buy uprated part - but I'm happy I did.

It's yellow, looks good, and more importantly if it's a lifetime part from what I gather then so much the better because it's lot more than a 15 min job (I wish) for the B7 with V engines, requiring the whole front assembly to be pulled forward into service position before you can take away the mount and spigot, more like a couple of hours of work all-in.
