Merc A45s...

Lol without a doubt it would .

I always try and pay around 50% deposit which helps keep the payment low .

Not a bad move at all mate. I also tend to put a decent amount down, but not 50%

How are you finding the Active Lane Assist on your car?
I had my first experience of it the other night coming home from work and almost **** myself!!
Approaching a roundabout and crossing over into a filter lane my car brakes violently on one side and the steering wheel vibrates trying to pull me back onto the main carriageway.
I went into the settings and turned it off, but have found that the damn thing defaults to on again with each ignition cycle.
I am quite ****** off at this because if I choose to turn it off it should stay off!
I am assuming it should be possible to permanently disable it via the OBD port, so I'm wondering if my dealer will turn it off at my request.

I doubt very much they will @Ron240, as a “safety feature”, but worth a ask

I have my doubts as well....but I know it can be permanently disabled by the driver on other Mercedes models and other manufacturers cars - I had it on Ford and Honda and both could be disabled.
To my mind Mercedes have taken this a step too far.

Yeah it’s one aspect of the car I’m not keen on either. Like you I turned it off initially but once I realised it defaults to on I just live with it now. Once you know to expect it, it’s not so bad and you get used to it.

The augmented sat nav is cool though isn’t it.

Funny you should mention this because when researching the car before placing my order I had been looking forward to seeing the augmented reality sat nav....but unfortunately Mercedes(temporarily?) discontinued this feature on my model(possibly all models fitted with it) in the first half of 2020.
I do not know why this happened or if it has been reinstated.

Really !!!!????

Why on earth have they done that ?

Oh how frustrating ... maybe it could be reinstated in a future update.

I have no idea what happened but there was even an official retail price reduction of £150 because of it.......as if that would make any difference. :D
I'm thinking it probably wont be possible to have it retro fitted.....at least not for free anyway.

Oh bc well it’s not a huge thing your missing mate and I’m sure the rest of the car is more than making up for it ... you getting to grips with the dash now & all the configurations ?

You must be loving the CLA looks and the premium feel of the car & spec you went for.

Yes and I've had quite a few admiring comments about it from workmates.
Last week was the first time I had driven the car in the dark so I got to see the headlights do their thing. First the party trick they do when starting the engine, then watching different areas illuminate/go dark depending on other traffic on the road.
Also not forgetting the interior ambient lighting.......I dont know which colour I prefer. :D

Yeah the ambient lighting looks incredible doesn’t it.

I tend to keep mine on yellow to match the stitching & seat piping.

I think one of the reds or combo reds would look really cool for yours.

The ‘hey mercedes’ can change the ambient too :)

As @Mr Freeze says no need to be sorry & I totally concur with the aero pack it is a step too far ... but without it’s got a great look, very purposeful and from any angle.

They are quite striking & modern looking & not to everyone’s taste. Which is good else everyone would have one. It’s a perfect replacement for my RS3, not missing that one bit ... which says a lot as I really liked that car.

But this beats it hands down on every level and the interior is in another league as is the tech.

the interior is in another league as is the tech.
From my own point of view I totally agree with this.
I previously thought the interior of my S3 was the classiest of any car I had owned up to that point.....but the interior of this car has significantly surpassed that. :sunglasses:

Each to their own though....everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and as we have all said many times before the world would be a much duller place if we all liked the same things. :innocent:

That’s the thing I really struggle to understand most though. I can get someone saying they prefer another car, but I really don’t get those that say they don’t like it at all ? I’d like to think i’ve had some nice cars over the years and always go for something that looks good - stylish / purposeful etc but never in yah face or chintzy. The A class hatch / CLA / saloon is a superb looking car imo. That’s what caught my eye in the first place. Whenever I saw one, they always drew my attention. But it wasn’t until I actually sat in one that I FULLY appreciated the quality level of these cars. When I went to the Merc dealership it was a CLA 250 I sat in and it was a genuine ‘wow’ moment. It just oozed quality & felt so premium. I think I was sold at that point ha ha ! I could have easily taken the showroom car there and then I was so taken with it. The new Audi 3 interior just isn’t a match imo. It’s quite fussy with a mish mash of disjointed components. It may be better first hand so I’ll reserve full judgement but imo Merc got the A class interior spot on & it’s class leading :icon thumright:

MB have gone far too clingy for me, I prefer nice and subtle...Might change the RS4 in a year or two for the next generation RS3 ... meanwhile looking at a 992 Carrera 4S (Targa?)

it’s your opinion mate & appreciate that, but are they that different ? I think they both deliver similar ‘looks’ and both fairly subtle.

2 similar angles ....

The M-B looks very ‘Cheshire’ imho. The Audi styling is just rather more subtle.

Cheshire :tearsofjoy:

They’re really not that different imo mate ... just the Merc looks much more modern, which it is of course. But both very subtle.

New Audi 3 interior is very questionable for me with those bizarre high level vents and mish mash of screens and angles. It just looks rushed & unbalanced but as I say I’ll reserve full judgement till I sit in one. The Merc interior is incredible so the Audi will need to be exceptional to make a similar impression.

I took a look and thought it was rather tacky. The new 8Y has a dash similar to the March 20 Q3 SB we have just sold. A lot more modern but I have to say touch screen is a step back and side assist and lane assist is a pain. Think I’m becoming an old fart but ....

Yeah the main dash screen looks quite good but my biggest gripe is the shape & positioning of the touch screen (& those vents lol).

The augmented reality sat nav on the Merc is very impressive. The handling of the Merc should also be noted. The RS3 as you well know was very ‘bouncy’ (mag ride anyway). The Merc handling feels a lot more supple & agile. The suspension set up is very well damped no doubt tweaked by AMG. It’s also insanely quick for a 2.0 litre. My RS3 was rapid and this is another half a second quicker to 62mph which you wouldn’t think is much, but you can feel the extra 50 or so horses.

@RGBARGEE

this is an interesting video.

I’d of bet money on the rs4 to win & even more impressive when the 45s beats it in the rolling race too.

they’re closely matched on bhp @ 420 v 440 & I think the rs4 is 4.1 seconds to 62mph vs 3.9 of the Merc, although some have been clocked at 3.7

The Audi is a class above but impressive the Merc can hold its own against it

rs4 will sound better though

I love my B9 RS4, one of the best cars I’ve had. I’m on no 2. My RS3 2016-2018 didn’t have Mag ride but S3 did 2018-2020 not greatly impressed really.
Been driving loads of nice cars recently as have a once in a lifetime chance to own one for a few years. So much choice. DB11, R8v10, Porsche 991.2 and 992... there are no really ‘bad’ cars are there just personal choice.

RS4 will take some beating mate tbh for the price.

No idea how you would pick from the selection you’ve listed ... nice problem to have :icon thumright:

I think any Porsche holds its money well & it’s gotta be a brand to sample once if you get the opportunity :icon thumright:
My neighbours on his third. Tried Turbo S 580 bhp... awesome but unless 3/4 years old out of my budget. C4S is sweet spot...but Audi RS4 AND RS3 are really classy motors in their own right.

I just wish they did an RS4 saloon as estate cars are not for me.

RS5 Coupe and Sportback... ??? the Porsche twin turbo V6 is superb.

yeah I considered an RS5 but can’t get passed the HUGE single doors which are a pita in car parks and I’m not mad on the sportback.

The RS4 should have left the factory at 500+ hp imho, crazy that they left it so close to the RS3 power wise. At 500+ the A45 would have been dusted.

My first RS4 (2018) showed 478PS as standard.
Had a couple of B8 coupe/cabriolet (58 and11) yes thedoors are big but liveable with no worse than a TT

Having had a TTS and S5 ... the switch to the RS3 with 5 doors and importantly short front doors was a revelation ... I won’t go back to a 2 door now.
