Hi All,

Firstly, thanks for taking the time to read my post! I'm after a little guidance on what I need. From all the other posts I've read I can see I need the carriers from a car with a PR code of these: 1ZA 1ZC 1ZM 1ZD 1LJ.

My PR code is 1ZE.
My car is a 2013 8VA 2.0TDI CRBC 150BHP Mapped to 201bhp

Ive found 2 sets of OE part numbers:
8V0615126A and 8V0615125A
And
5G0615125 and 5G0615126

Has anyone here done the upgrade and are you able to confirm the parts you've used? There aren't too many on ebay and no one has mentioned the PR code or OE code and don't want to buy blind.

If anyone can help me out here I'd be over the moon as I'm itching to get some parts on order!!

Thanks all,

Sam!

Did it awhile ago for the rears. Went ST40 bbk up front with rfb600 fluid. Bbk is better use of the money if your going to upgrade and really need the stopping power. Additional bonus is much lighter overall which helps with rotational mass.

I wish I could afford the BBK! I just wanted to allow for a 312mm disc with the standard setup just to fill out the wheel a little bit as the brakes look lost under my current wheels. Thanks for the info though mate! Really interesting stuff!

I was able to find the bbk used for roughly $1400 USD - it was cheaper than used OEM at the time. The rear upgrade wasn't as cheap as I thought either, but because of the electronic parking brake.

Why not upgrade to S3 calipers and discs 345mm when you've done map?

It will don't worry :) just about..
Just about? I like it are all the S3 brakes the same?? Does it matter on the year? Don't suppose you've got a link or anything just to help? I'd buy them second hand just want to make sure I buy right!

Hi Sam. I upgraded the 288mm brake discs to 312mm ones last week. You need two calliper carriers: 8V0615125A, 8V0615126A. And you need some 312mm brake discs, obviously. The best price I've found on ebay here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143327568974 I chose the whole kit (callipers, carriers and pads) because it was cheaper than if I bought two carriers separately at any other place. I changed the carriers and the pads only, so I have a set of new callipers that I can sell and get some money back, if I want.

I also bought a set of Zimmermann drilled and coated discs here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202582403855 Again, it was the best price. Zimmermanns are lighter than brembos of the same size in case if you are concerned about the unsprung/rotational mass. I am.

There are some pictures I posted in my thread: #30

So you literally just have to replace the carrier and the disc’s, using the original calliper from The 288 disc wont have any negative effect on the braking capabilities?

Update: I've managed to get hold of the carriers from a guy on Facebook, ordered some brake discs from MTEC and some EBC pads. Heard mixed things about MTEC discs but more good than bad so we'll see. I'll post pictures as I do stuff too! I've ordered some Castrol React DOT 4 too, going to do a full flush too!

From what I can make out the braking is improved due to the braking point on the disc is further from the center of rotation increasing the braking force for the same pedal input pressure!

Will keep you up to date!

Yes. Softer braking was the only effect I noticed so far.

Any good deals on rear electronic calipers?

Ordered the set you posted for the front, just need the 312mm disk now.

Is it possible to fit bigger discs to the rear?

As to the 312mm discs, I like the zimmermanns. They work great with the pads from that set, do not squeal, lighter than brembos and look good.

I dont want to fit bigger rear disks, I just wondered if you had a link for replacement rear electronic calipers. The link for the front ones you gave was very good.

I don't have such a link, sorry. I had the link for the front ones just because I searched the best price on the calliper carriers and this one was the best deal.

An update.

Looks like the guy on Facebook diddled me, got back from my holiday to find MK5 golf brackets and not MK7 as advertised so going to have to order from elsewhere. Seriously thinking about the ones posted above but they're out of stock
