Hi all!

I ordered an Audi A5 SB Sline 40 TSFI at beginning April with an estimated delivery date of 3rd Aug. Last week the delivery was pushed back to 17th Aug due to backlog.

It's already been built and waiting shipment. Have any of you experienced delays with the Audi orders in the last month and how many days/weeks after the initial date did you get your dream cars?

As you can probably tell I'm impatient and can't wait for the delivery day :)

It won't be the recall - it only affects builds upto March 2020. Splashback ordered theirs in April.

Real reason will be coronavurus. There was huge stocks that weren't shipped when the port closed in March in Germany. Cars were being built and went into the overflow.

My A5 was among those waiting. It now depends on where yours is in the park. If at the front you will get it sooner. At the back of the pack and later. Mine has arrived. At the dealer now awaiting handover

Thansk HMG1k - when did you order yours? Mine was built in week 27

Mine was stuck in the pack of cars at the port in Germany mid June. Was over here 1st weekend of July. At the dealers last week.

I personally didn't order it, it was a dealer network factory order on these facelift A5s. I'd guess these were the ones that should have been on UK roads in April (which was Audi UK's plan back in January) but coronavurus out a stop to that

It also depends on the dealership and how hard they push to get the car for you!

When I was switching from my S3 (sold privately) to the A5, their sales manager had given me a 100% confirmed collection date of a Saturday. I even checked with him again 2 weeks before and again he said yes it will be here don't worry. So I arranged for the buyer of the S3 to have my car the day before on the Friday. When I went to sign the paperwork on the Monday he said the car will be delayed 2-3 weeks!!! I explained the above and he said there was nothing that he could do, I asked if I could have a courtesy car whilst I was waiting for mine, explaining that where I work is out of the way and there is no public transport and he came out with a flat no

Not a happy chap at all I went home and phoned Audi UK and explained the above. The guy I spoke to fully understood why I was angry and even said "We wouldn't expect a customer to be without a car for 24 hours, let alone 2-3 weeks". He said leave it with me....two days later the local dealership phoned me to say that the car WILL be ready for collection on Saturday! Saturday came and the young woman who I'd been dealing with came to my home to pick me up and take me to the dealership, I asked her what had changed? She told me that the sales manager had been roasted by Audi UK, he had then pulled strings to get it here for you! During the handover he came over to me and gave me his private number, saying if you have any problems please call me and not Audi UK :D

HMG1K, can I ask how many days it took to go from Leaving the factory (status 30) to being shipped (39)?
I ordered an ‘in stock’ A5 on 30th June and the dealer assured me (and still does) that the car was already in the UK. 3 weeks later and still no news so I spoke to Audi UK who confirmed the car was waiting to ship at Emden.
They also gave me the order no. which the dealer said I wouldn’t need and that confirms it’s in status 38 and didn’t go to 30 until 4th July.
The dealer has even stated the Sales Manager is certain it will be delivered to me by end July, but it needs to be on a boat quick for that!

Mine was already waiting in the compound in Germany awaiting the journey on the ship.

Second week off June I was told it would be mid July under normal circumstances or end of July under the current circumstances. And it depended where in the pack my car was. Near the front was obviously good news.

Anyway, it got here weekend of 27th of June and cleared customs within days. At the dealer the following weekend.

I think you are still on track, it is just where your car is in the back of the stack awaiting shipping

nice one, thanks.
Unfortunately my tracking code sheet is incomplete so all I can see is when it went to ‘on its way to docks’ but don’t know if that was from a holding pen near Emden.
I think it will depend on the port here too as the dealer is almost the same distance from Sheerness and Grimsby and Sheerness seems to have a LOT more ships although not much to either for a few days.
Just glad you had an honest and cautious dealer. Still no clue why mine insists on claiming it’s in the UK already

I'm in London but my vehicle went to Huddesfield Audi, so nearer to Grimsby than the Kent port.

What does the MyAudi app say? (Sorry if I've missed this but already).

Port clearance for me and to dealer once on these shores was 5-7 days. Then it's just down to the dealer to work fast to Oreo it for you.

I'd be fine with your situation today, start the panic nearer Thurs next week

The tracker is only saying its left Brussels (assume this is the plant for A5’s) but the code on the data page you can find in the forum is 38 which is at port. Audi UK have confirmed it’s at Emden and has been there 2 weeks but said it could go to any port here.
I’m with you that if it’s not in the UK next weekend it’s not happening this month. If that’s the case I’ll be telling the dealer they can look after it until 1st Sept and I’ll have a 70 plate

Yep, looks like dependable on where yours is in the batch. I bet it is at the front.

Which variant and colour have you got coming?

it’s an Edition 1 with comfort and sound pack in quantum grey.

Swish!!!!

It does look the business on images.
I haven’t actually test driven one as I found such a good deal on the in stock car. I drive an A6 currently though so assuming not much difference

You'll love the A5 and the lower ride height than the A4 / A6. Sportscar-like low and those sublime frameless doors!

I’m actually most looking forward to seeing what a modern petrol is like, going back from diesel after 12 years. The A6 is a Quattro so don’t actually think I’ll lose much on economy!

My current 40 TFSI 2018MY A5 easily achieves 49 mpg, going by the on board computer, so you can safely expect that on motorways.

Moving to the 35 TDI so hoping to improve on that for the extra mOney I'll spend on diesel

I’m in the 2017 equivalent of the 40tdi and with Quattro struggle to get 42mpg on the m’way so looking forward to cutting the fuel bills
