Suspension question (NOT which is best....P

Time to replace the shocks and springs on the Quattro, they've done well over 300K km now and time to change for something firmer.

Looking through the various and extensive posts on the subject a couple of questions spring to mind

- How can I tell if the the original suspension was S Line or Sports option or just standard SE? Is there a way of visually determining?
- Any idea why Eibach do the Sportline kit for the FWD but not the quattro?

S line come with red shock absorbers and no idea why eibach only sell for fwd that has always baffled me but you got h&r springs which are just as good so i wouldn't worry to much.

Cheers, I don't see any red shocks so guessing they're standard. Had Eibach on other motors and no complaints nice kit.

It's weird, the car is an "Ambition Luxe" spec which has seemingly got every option under the sun - except for the sports suspension.

Sports suspension isn’t necessarily a luxury in all peoples eyes probably why mostly all manufacturers do a “luxury” top of the range model and a sports model generally there aimed at different people with different preferences.

Too true Rob, I always put my ride quality down to 40 profile tyres and our ***** roads. But after my milage and the general consensus it seems my shocks are just worn out. But as they pass the MOT and aren't leaking I figured they must be ok.

Just gotta make the time to get my B12 kit on now.

Yes, got the sticker in the front page of the service book, can see a 1BA but no 1BE or 1BV, so using the decoder this tells me:
1BA = Standard suspension/shock absorption - question answered cheers!

Yeah took a new A1 courtesy car out for the day it was vastly improved over the A4 which made me realise mine needed doing at some stage,
as you say the road surface feedback was good - a little too good at times over some of the cobbled streets round here.

Have had AP kit on my car for the last 7 years; lasted well - was fitted by PO so not even sure how long its been on there.....!

It's quite comfortable; mine being a 2.7tdi S-line avant it's a heavy ****** and is wound down quite low on 19's - it lost the undertray in the snow last year and it occasionally gets a bit of arch liner scuff on big compression - the fact no one asks if it's been modded is probably the biggest hint that it's not too harsh a ride!
