Bit of a petty one, but have been looking at the lights retrofits over on AudiWorld. On the photos and seemingly unrelated peoples interior door handles are lit up. I've looked at my car and there's a clear perspex panel but I'm sure I've never seen them light up.
Am I missing something, is this not on UK cars or is something wrong? Would seem odd for it not to be on any of the 4 doors though...

Are you talking about lights in the gap where you’d put your hand to open the door? Lights pointing down into there?

Yep, they're the ones. I'm pretty sure that I've never seen them light up, and I couldn't see them light up today when I checked. Yes it was daylight but the others you could tell.

On an slightly related note, don't look here: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a4...remove-door-panel-b9-a4-2915685/#post24931437

You'll find out you need to have this when you never knew it was a problem...
I've thoroughly investigated these, the $60 cost is the only thing putting me off, people have manged to fit them without removing the door panel as well. Although I'm removing my door panels this weekend for a few reasons including seeing if I can get the LED strips lighting up.

I'll check mine tonight to see if they operate when the headlights are on.

There is also an option to turn them in in the MMI.
When I bought mine it was off so didn’t realise I had them at first.

Yesterday I said I was done fiddling with my car.
Today I'm considering buying more lights off AliExpress.

Not as neat as the $60 solution, but with a bit of cable splicing these should work lovely.

I'm planning on taking the passenger side door off this weekend, I want to do it anyway as I want to unhook/disable the interior door handle! So I'll be taking a god look at what I've got.

Well the interesting thing is that I was wrong, there is an LED there and it does light up.
It's not controlled by the MMI at all, and it's really quite dim. Nothing like the photo here.

I'm also not yet sure if it comes on when the car is moving or just at standstill. Although it doesn't go off with the interior overhead lights.
On another couple of notes, interior handle now disabled (front door childlock!) And the red light in the photo above. I'm missing the fibre optic completely to even retrofit it. Although there might be space for one....

The MMI is for the brightness of said lights. Not to turn them on/off

Quite different from mine then. Do you have the lights halfway down the doors too?
Yes, I have them and the brightness of them is controlled by the MMI, just not the "handle" lights.
I don't have the bright strip which comes from the handle to the front of the door though.

I don’t think I have that either. It’s never something I’ve noticed at least

I have them and they’re controlled by the MMI on mine. If I change brightness for door cards etc it changes the handle LEDs as well.

my car is a 2016 so probably something Audi has removed to scrimp on costs as per.

Please share your mmi screen so I can see the differences.

I can control the footwell, doors and interior but they don’t appear to change....they’re very dim though so perhaps I didn’t notice.

They change when I change the interior lights.

I changed the main brightness dial from 0 to full and the door handle lights didn't change. All the other lights did.
Doesn't make sense that it would save any money doing this! Oh well...not the biggest concern of the car.
