S3 service plan

For those people interested (sorry I did try searching the forum but it wouldn’t work on the mobile!) I have just purchased a service plan for my S3.

I even went into the dealership in Ipswich (who were very helpful tbh) to check this as was told when I purchased the car that Audi didn’t do a plan for S/RS models.... which I don’t think they did a year ago.

Anyway.... set it up online. £468 one off payment or £26/month/18months. Includes 1 x oil plus 1 x oil & inspection. Seems like a good deal to me given I was quoted £250ish for the oil alone, then £195 for inspection. Then would need to repeat this again in another year or so.

Was sceptical at first and was even told by Audi Colchester that it was an error on the Audi website and they definitely didn’t do a service plan for the S3, and pretty much hung up on me!!!! Won’t be going there despite it being more convenient for me!!!

So done 13000 miles in just over 1 year and the service plan will see me covered for the next couple of years, meaning that I will only spend £468 servicing the car over the 3 years that I’m likely to keep it. Seems good to me!

Could you post a link to this please as like you when i spoke to the dealer i got my SQ5 from'' sorry no service plan for the S/RS models & my local dealer, Harrogate audi they said the same. Went on line a while back to see as you did but at the time it also stated no service plan for our models. So if you could post the link i'm definatley intrested in this. Cheer's.

That’s what I thought, but I put in my details, came up with my S3 and completed it online in the Audi garage. They were happy with it. Have had my plan docs etc through

It really annoys me when manufacturers try to con us into believing that their "sports" models are more expensive to service than the rest of the model range. Ford do it with their ST models and I'm sure all other manufacturers also do it.
With the Audi A3 range the RS is an obvious exception, but the S costs no more to service than any other A3.
There is no justification for it whatsoever......they even use the same oil!
It's just blatant profiteering IMO.

You forgot to mention that the 0-3 year old pay a lot more than the 3year + cars even though they use the same filters/oils etc.

I can almost understand if a completely new model with new engines needing newer parts and oil but most cases it’s not.

Is there a difference between an oil service and an interim service? or an oil service+inspection and a major service?
Looks like £468 for two oil/filter changes, a bit of poking round, an Italian tune and a pollen filter(only if required)
Surely you time the fixed interval servicing or negotiate and get your three year service at the 'over three year' reduced rate anyway.

And especially when you take into account that apart from a cursory poke about and checking that the horn works, all a 'service' actually consists of is an oil and filter change.

Okay, I appreciate that this is a rather simplistic - and somewhat jaundiced - view, but the days when cars had their timing checked, belts tightened, points and tappets adjusted and all the nipples greased as part of a service are long, long gone.

In light of how little a routine service entails these days, I'm often a bit puzzled as to why some peeps seem to think that their car's performance will be transformed by paying a dealership the thick end of two hundred quid for the privilege of having a mechanic play Black Ops 4 on his phone while five litres of oil dribbles out into a bucket.

I totally agree with this - Over 3 years old £199 up to 3 years whatever they want to charge

Only difference with the S3 is that it needs 5.7 litres of oil I think for the 2 litre but it can't be that much difference surely and like I say over 3 years old up to 2 litres is £199 anyway

Nope didn't forget, but this just highlights their inflated charges in the first place.
They only reduce the cost in an attempt to retain the customers business after the car is outside the original 3 years manufacturer warranty.

Don't forget there is(or was) a 2.0 litre non S3 model in the range that is cheaper to service.

Quite a lot included so it could be a good option if your car is over 3yrs old. It seems MOT is included too? if so then that's really good.

Yes there is a 1.5T - Used to do an 1.8T and a 2.0T non S3 but those days appear to have gone - In a petrol anyway

The problem is they charge per litre of Oil from the gun but when it's over 3 years old it's a set price

I did mention to my mate who's a mastertech how the service plan works (I had a service plan on my 2014 S3) as I was paying £15 per month which I said wouldn't cover the cost and he said service and parts have to reduce their costs to meet the service plan

You know what's coming next - Why don't you just make the price that anyway or offer the £199 for everybody and I'm sure people would be quite happy with that

I find it particularly annoying to be quoted £295 for the same oil and filter that would be £199 if the car was 3 years old - I'm lucky enough to be able to afford a brand new car so you then screw me for some more at service time

Main dealer servicing is a rip off most of the time but to not offer a plan on the sports range is another con, ''yes'' they might need more oil etc but you don't mind paying for what you need?. I would gladley have my car at the main dealer but the cost puts me off when i have two very good indi Audi/German car specialists who charge less than half what main dealers want.

It actually says:-

*Service plans are not available for certain 'S, RS,R8, W12 (over 6.0L) models'.

Therefore, this may be the reason the S3 is included in the service plan deal?

Boy you guys get ripped off in the UK for Audi servicing....I have mentioned this before......My Canadian 2017 S3 when purchased as a new car in 2017. I prepaid for an Audi 4 year ANNUAL servicing plan which includes cabin filter replacement, brake fluid and Haldex servicing for 490 quid. This servicing can be done by any Audi dealership, which is great if you move.

I used to have one all the time until they started that, “no you can’t have that on an S3”. Anyway, it let me sort it online whereas before it would not accept my car. So they have definitely changed it. So they should too. An S3 at 2 litres is no different to an A3 2.0l car in terms of oil and stuff. Sorted! LOL. Oh and the best thing is, there is a 20% discount at the moment! About time I got a discount on Audi prices so £384 paid over 18 months.

That’s cus you have a nice newer car and mine is an oldie like me 0-3 yrs is as you’ve paid and 3-10 yrs is over 18 months at £384

Yeah I agree with S32B - the MOT will not be free with a service plan. It’s free for life after a cambelt change though, which makes sense as we pay so much over the top we have effectively paid for 5 years MOT’s anyway

Just as a comparison......the price for a 2 service plan on my new Mercedes CLA is £720, but Mercedes are also running a 20% discount promotion which takes it down to £576.
Similar to Audi though the online purchasing does not work. You need to put in a code to get the discount, and not only does that not work but registration numbers are not recognised either.
Apparently you can get it sorted at a dealer though.
Why do manufacturers bring out these offers when their websites are not properly set up for it!

The current 2020 Audi offer has been running for a wee while now, but when it was first launched everybody here that tried to buy it had a problem. Apparently it went through ok but then they received a message saying it hadn't worked and would need to contact a dealer.
The Mercedes promotion has only went live 3 days ago.

merc servicing is a lot more expensive than Audi in my experience. One of the reason I got one a few years back for the mrs was they included 3 years servicing for free for all their suvs otherwise for the 3 years was £1200+ for a wee diesel.

A friend recently bought a 2016 A Class that came with 3 years free servicing, but I have personally never seen them do that on new cars.

I was quoted £850 for the 4th service. No doubt they would have tried the usual you need tyres and brakes on top of that. Traded it in well before the 4th service.
Land Rover is worse! First service is around £1k

Hi Matt - they have changed their wording on the services now. The major does include more, BUT only if they do it! The wording is very clever. It says “if required” so they could change **** all and still charge the extra price. I had a massive argument over this last year when I got a free major service out of them. I was asking for spark plugs, air filter and pollen filter. All I got told was “if they need doing, we’ll change them” as in, if the mileage is up we’ll do it, otherwise we won’t! So as it was free I let it slide. This year it will start again with me requesting proof for what has actually been changed and what has not. Every year is a battle and somehow I like the challenge! LOL
