Hi Everyone,

On Monday I ordered a brand new MY19 A5 Coupe S-Line 40 TFSI with the Tech Pack from Manchester Audi in one of their post lockdown deals. Since purchasing they have a told me the car is in storage in Germany and requires some recall work to be completed before the car is shipped over to the UK. Does anybody have any previous experience with how long this will take ? I have also seen reports that electric folding mirrors were made standard on the MY19, is this true?

Thanks,

Folding mirrors for sure on 2020MY (facelift). Not on 2019. I've a 2018MY sportback S-Line and haven't got them.

You won't have them on Tech Pack. But you will if it was Comfort and Sound.

Hi mate and welcome to the forums.

I think they are standard now, I paid for my A5 s-line folding mirrors in 2017.

I'd be more concerned about the recall work, once left the factory it doesn't go back to the factory, any software updates etc get done at the dealership. I'd be thinking they have pranged it!

The only recall was May last year:

Recall

Its been in storage over there according to the dealer so has never been in the UK. Maybe I misunderstood what I was told but my impression was that the recalled part was being over there then transported here.

Maybe they are bringing it over here and then doing the work at the garage, was told id get a phone call on monday with an update so will ask more questions then.

They had a 11000 deposit contribution and audi are paying my first 3 months finance so as long as I get the car brand new and undamaged ill be pretty happy.

£11,000 deposit contribution ... wow!

I had a email from Audi this past week, local west London dealer, with £5 > £18k dealer contribution on certain models. I couldn't find anything beyond an £11k.

Audi HQ say there are thousands and thousands of cars waiting to be shipped here from Germany. Stock made before lockdown but never made it over once the posts closed. They have those to shift in Germany here and keep up with new cars being made.

I think Audi UK put in £4500 and then Jardine Audi put in the rest. Audi finance pay the first 2 months and Jardine Audi pay the 3rd month. I have to pay to settle my current finance on a Competition Line A1 but after all of the issues I have had with that car it was too good a deal to pass up.

How did you find that out ? It sounds like it is going to be a very long 3/4 weeks wait !

You're joking! Is that what the dealer said?! Of course they are correct in their pre-coronavirus book!

I'm jumping from a 2018 A5 Sportback S-Line to a A4 Avant S-Line. Ordered on 30th April. I still haven't a build week slot. I'm fine with that.

Audi HQ said on the A4 there is an upto 20 week delay. Anytime in that 20 weeks I will get a build slot. From that build week slot, the car will be at the dealer in four weeks. A3 prioritised as that is the new model to get out for Audi to back up the advertising.

The rest are on backlog.

If you can wait, if you get a build week from the third week of July onwards then you will have a 2021MY vehicle with any spec upgrades and for free. You'll be locked in to 2020MY prices.

For the A4, as an example, it's a 165 PS engine (up from 150PS) on the 35TFSI. Audi is introducing an improved mild hybrid system, more powerful than the 8v currently.

The car I have bought has already been built its a MY19 A5 not MY20, the car has been in storage in Germany since it was built (last year i'm assuming). It just needs work done because of a recall but I haven't got any idea if the work is done before it comes over or once it lands with the dealer, they didn't seem to have much accurate infomation when they spoke to me on Tuesday.

Same car as mine then :)

How have you found it since you bought it?
I like the car, nothing I don't like about it! The only problem for me is I do a lot of short trips in and around town, so the front tyres were down to 2mm after 6,000 mile! At first the front were constantly spinning, but you soon get used to the pedal to stop it. Finding the washer bottle the first time was :wtf: don't look in the manual just try to find it :thumbs up: same goes for the jack and locking nuts!!! Try to find them first!

Tips:
When it's frosty, have an old credit/bank card handy, slide it up and down along the bottom of the window between the rubber/glass. When it's a hard frost because the window drops slightly when you open the door it sometimes makes the motor go up/down/up/down as the window can't drop properly if it's a hard frost. Always a worrying sound and makes you think the motor will break!!!

If the car has been standing still in heavy rain and you need to open the boot, do it slowly otherwise all the water floods into the boot off the rear window! Same with getting in the car, sometimes if your car is well waxed you sit in and your weight drops the drivers side slightly and the water runs off the roof straight onto you as you reach to close the door

If you check the oil level on the mmi and it's down slightly don't panic, sometimes it goes back up! If it doesn't remember it's only about 1 litre from min-max...I thought I'd put too much in a few weeks back (I didn't read the book just topped it up!) and it was worrying, as if you do it tells you to stop driving and you have to have some removed!

I have the autowatch ghost system on mine, that will be coming off when I hand the car back, not sure if you can put it on a different car? the place I contacted to get it removed said you can't and I'd have to buy a new one for the next car...but were they just trying to make a sale!!!

I have a genuine Audi boot liner for mine, great thing to have...I may be selling that when the car goes in September. I'd also throw in the 2 sets of mats, rubber for winter and cloth for the summer.

EDIT* The service pack is on offer at the moment, may be worth looking at that, my 2nd service last year Audi wanted £452 :wtf:

I'll be sure to have an adventure looking for the washer bottle :), most of my driving is motorway miles so hopefully they won't wear as fast as yours did. Thanks for all the useful tips there! Bit silly they didn't think of something to stop water leaking into the boot, not like it rains over here every day.

Whats the autowatch ghost never heard of that before and I did look at the service pack offer but ill probably just take it out when I get its first service done as ill be keeping the vehicle for at least 3 years.

Especially in Manchester, it's always raining there lol! Yeah first time I opened the boot in the rain I was  it's a very bad design.

Service pack is discounted now, so not sure what it would go up to!

This is the vid I made after I had mine fitted, think it covers everything:

Think it goes up by about a fiver a month so ill probably just hold off until I get its first service. That autowatch ghost is pretty cool might have a look into getting that fitted, does it impact warranty or anything ?

Not that I'm aware mate as they don't cut any wires! I've just contacted them to ask if they have the location of it logged on their system (think they will) the place that fitted it no longer deals with them, so I need to use someone else to take it off. I forgot to ask if it can be transferred to another car

Update - Call from Audi yesterday after giving Audi UK the VIN, car never was in Germany car was at Hitchin Audi but they can't collect the car or let me have it until they have replaced the alternator belt. The guy said they weren't sure when they would get that in stock as they are awaiting a new batch. The wait for a collection date continues.

Never trust anything they tell you lol.

My A5 is now at my dealer but Audi have put a stop to the sale of all A5's due to the alternator recall. The dealer are hoping this will end in the next week or so.
