Small nail on tyre

Just was out and spot a small nail on my rear near side tyre.. not sure if it’s been long in it by the looks of it may be it has. Car is not apparently losing air, neither the sensors on the obc has come up. Now not sure what to do as tyre is fairly new around the 5mm left.. so would u a) repair, b) pry out the nail, c) leave it as it is, d) replace tyre (not kind on that one lol)

b, buy one of those repair kits first or go to somebody to do a for you

I had a similar issue with a screw on a basically new tyre. I pried it out and measured it and there was no way based on the length of the screw and the remaining tread that it punctured the casing and belts.
The safe way would be to take it to a tyre dealer and let them inspect the inner casing. Nails tend to be longer than 5-7mm

Easy enough to have that repaired by any tyre place, with a bung from the inside.

I probably will call Kwik Fit tomorrow to get it done.. my gf needs the car for work (works in NHS).. any idea how much Kwik fit charges for this? Or mayb better taking it to a local tyre place?

I’d call around. Kwikfit are £25. They fit a new valve and rebalance. A local garage might be a bit less.

£25 ! I was going to give it a go to the repair puncture kits they sell on eBay.. I don’t mind £10-15 but no more lol

Judging by the bulging into the groove I'd say that is more likely to be a screw and the head has been worn away. Unless it's free for NHS at Kwikfit I'd be going to an independant.

25 quid is not bad....remember they have to remove, inspect for damage, repair if nescessary, replace tyre and balance the wheel

Costco do tyre repairs for £10.

It's a repair safe area anyway no matter where you take it...I'd repair it before you come out one morning or after work to find it flat!

Thats the repair..probably similar to the ones that can be done with the repair kit. At least is done.. so much debri in the roads lately

As you say it's done now Just keep an eye on the pressure for a week or two.

Did Kwik Fit remove the tyre and repair from the inside? If they just plugged it and that looks what they did, that is not the way to do a proper puncture repair.

This is how big my was. Went into Costco to have all 4 changed on a Friday and they told me 20% off was starting on the Monday. This happened on the Sunday. I was very lucky to get away with this.

I’m not sure, they did balance and put a new valve so I believe they removed the tyre .. seems ok now

They should, as the patch should be from the inside to outside.
