got service reminder in the dash.
with the way things are I’m not going to be doing 2200 miles in the next 8 weeks let alone 8 days.
Do I wait till close to 2200 miles or get it serviced in the next week or so? Car is sitting just over 16k

Officially it is whichever is soonest, which in your case will be 8 days.
My 2nd service(oil change and inspection combined) was due at beginning of last week so I contacted my dealer to enquire how long past the due date I can go while still retaining my full warranty. They phoned me back and said don't worry about it because they are currently servicing cars at least 3 months beyond their due date with no problems.

Just looking at your photo and assuming everything was ok in the world, I would be waiting 41 days and having both done at same time.

was thinking along the same lines with the 41 days. went from doing 150+ miles a day to almost zero. Only go to shops and back once a week.
Can’t do any harm as I’m not really going anywhere. It’s funny the weird things I miss during lockdown. I haven’t driven in the rain or in the dark since March. Not even washed my car in weeks. Just dust sitting on it and the heavy rain last night has washed most of it away.

By complete contrast nothing has ever changed for me......other than going from the pleasure of driving during the day with hardly any traffic on the roads, to the gradual increase over the past 3 weeks or so to now almost what it was before lockdown. :(

The official thing they say (in normal times) is you can do it 30 days before or 30 days after the date on the mmi, but you can only go over by 1,000 miles.

If the car is a keeper I'd still do it in the nex 38 days, as we all know what they are like for trying to get out of warranty work if anything goes wrong!!!

still undecided if I’m gonna keep this car or get another. This lockdown has put it in perspective that these flashy cars are nothing more than just lawn ornaments. Don’t get me wrong as a car enthusiast I love cars, slow, fast, new , old etc. I do a lot of miles so something nice but do I need an Audi or something like a focus or octavia do the job just as well at possibly half the price.
Should I get rid and get a cheaper car? Should I just pay it off and keep it long term? As my mate always says I’m just spending my sons inheritance

What I would say to that is....and this is speaking as a son not a father - you have always looked after and provided for your son and will continue to do so when required, but are spending your own money to make your own life more pleasurable in the now while still able to enjoy it. :innocent:
In the current climate I do understand your thinking regarding new cars though......and I am in the same quandary myself at the moment.

P.S. Sounds like your mate is jealous of your nice things. :tongueout:

weird thing is the only other big expenditure is nice holidays and now that’s out the window cause of the virus there’s not a huge amount of things to spend the little money I have on.
Started looking at holidays for end of year and some ticket prices was 10x the price last year and some you can’t even get flights to. Then there’s quarantine periods for different countries so you end up spending your whole holiday in quarantine. Maybe time to trade in the Audi and get a caravan

Hey there's nothing wrong with a nice caravan.....as long as its one of the static ones and not the pull behind your car and clog up the roads variety. :D
I've been on many a great caravan holiday in my time. :)

Totally agree plus I hate towing stuff! Can’t park them!!
For the foreseeable future holidays in static caravans/glamping , Alton towers, centre parcs and Legoland is about as far as we are getting. Multiple trips a year abroad isn’t gonna come back anytime soon.

Has anyone been able to buy a service plan lately? They are offering 20% off at £374 for 2 services.. I have tried but then it comes an email back saying it could not be completed.. another member on the Q2 forums had exactly the same.. maybe an issue with vw finance services site..?

I got offered the deal yesterday they said a member of the team would be in contact later in the day to take payment but I didn't hear anything .
My car is booked in Audi oldham on Tuesday for its first service so I might be able to pay for the deal there .
I'll let you know how i get on .

Normally the service plans and deals don’t apply to the s/Rs models even though the s3 uses the same stuff as the normal 2.0 tfsi models.
Will need to have a look and see if the dealers can at least match it. £374 for 2 dealer services is a bargain. Was quoted more than that for 1 inspection.
Do you have a link for it?

Interesting twists on this this thread. I hit 50 and saw friends departing. I'd never had much money and always been careful with it, but saw my views changing on how I should spend what I had. It's all down to what makes you happy and if you can have it then why not. I'm not into fast cars but I do like a newish one. I don't want flash foreign holidays but I do like my summer in France. I had a trailer tent when the kids were young and then a small caravan. I must say I don't like caravans and also cannot understand dragging a small bungalow at 50mph holding up everything on the road. So I have a small pop-top Eriba and as a sad sod have posted pictures of this before. I could tow at illegal speeds with ease but don't do so and don't hold up traffic. So getting back to it, keep the car, enjoy it when you finally can, book that holiday and spend what you can. The kids will get the house so stop worrying. Enjoy yourself, you only live once.

Interestingly the under 3 years old service plan now "Includes S models under 2.0l"
As previously stated they unfairly used to exclude S models.

S3 is something like 1998cc so just slides under the 2.0 mark. The website picked up mine was an s3 and gave me the service plan so all good.

I also did monthly but I believe paying in full would be the same.. maybe they want you to contact them or do it at the dealers.. all about sales

Gonna call the dealer tomorrow and get them to look into it. They quoted more than that for the inspection a few months back. suppose the plan doesn’t include the haldex oil change.

I don’t think it does.. well mine is manual. Surely something wrong at their site..still seems a good offer as I was quoted £370 just for the oil and inspection service before the pandemic..

I know exactly how you feel mate, 8,000 mile in 2.5 years and I thought expensive drive ornament!
I decided to downsize to around £21k and was all set to order an ST3 for £20,300 and then lockdown happened. They contacted me this week to say the new car has gone up to over £21k and my px has gone down! The pcp price went from under £300 to £336! I said forget it, add the tax, servicing, tyres, etc on top of that and it's costing more than a £30k+ new car via lease with everything included! So it looks like I'm going the lease route.

Don't worry about spending your sons inheritance, I'm sure he'd rather see you enjoying it than him having it. When my dad retired I said "Get yourself a nice sports car, you've worked hard all your life enjoy it", he used to laugh and say "I'm only on a pension". When he died I went with my mum to sort his bank accounts out, we were both shocked at what he had! The first thing I said to my mum was "He always made out like he only had his pension". Don't get me wrong, they went on coach holidays and weekends away and lived comfortably, but he had money there to buy a nice sports car, do fancy holidays and in general do more together as a couple than they did...it's too late now! :crying:

I've been off work since mid March and had a phone call today, one of the lads I work with has died at the age of 56, I'm gutted as he was such a nice bloke. Early retirement came up last year and I said to him are you taking it? He replied with "No, I want a few more years to push my pension pot up" :crying:

Last week my mates-daughters-boyfriends-aunt had her life support switched off, she was 30 years old and had 3 kids all under the age of 7. She'd fallen down the house stairs and hit her head :sorrow:

Did you contacted a dealership or Audi financial services to sort it out? I was about 30 min on waiting time with vw finance and no one was picking up.. also did they did the 20% Off on the service plan?

Here is the number I phoned 0121 504 0777 yes i got it for £374.40 .

Is that the number for Audi Finance? Or just a dealership?

I have just obtained a service price from John Clark group who own Dundee and Aberdeen Audi.
Price is for the second annual service(oil change and inspection) on an S3. It was stated that changing the pollen filter is optional and I could have price with or without, so I chose without.
£389.17
I asked what is involved in an inspection to justify the significant price increase over an oil change, and was told it is a comprehensive visual check which takes 1.5 hours.

Finally set my service plan in through the phone.. vw finance are helpless. After repeating then twice they still get me on the system with the old A3 I owned and my old adress. After sending the arrangement 3 times amending details finally got the service plan 2 years £374, oil and insp + another oil only..

Didn't realise the second service was that expensive I guess I've done ok getting the first/second services for £374.40 .

Just got my car back from its first service it was a bit of a faff with all the Covid 19 measures in place Audi oldham's
social distancing was on a another level . Better safe than sorry I guess .

Absolutely....and no doubt the individual price will have risen in a year from now.
While on the phone I found out that my dealers price for a first oil change has risen by over £40 from what mine cost 12 months ago.
Honestly I think these prices are ridiculous.....but I suppose the fancy showrooms and free coffee n biscuits have to be paid for somehow.
