Selling car to a company..

Hi all, not to do with my Audi but hopefully some of you can help.

My other half’s grandad has recently become ill, long story short he is selling the car as he no longer will be able to drive it. It’s a 2013 (newer shape) S class S350 Bluetec.

The best thing for us would be to sell it to a company who would come out and offer a price there and then. would a prestige car company bother looking at a car like this? I don’t want to go to somewhere like WBAC etc. It has a bit a cosmetic damage on one side when he tried to reverse out of the garage.

Main dealers won't be interested unless is was something special or rare. Usually they only want stock that's up to 5 years old. Dealer groups have sales guys who source cars from around the UK for group stock, and they come out to your home to inspect. I've done that twice. MK7 Golf GTI & Audi R8. They didn't even bother with a test drive. Just wanted to make sure it was as described, and mileage as stated.

Try a specialist, as they will probably be more interested than most, if it's something they can then sell on. But unless the specialist is local and very keen, then I'd have thought you'll need to take the car to them.

WBAC are quite good. I've found them to be anyway. Sold them a couple cars over the years, as (at the time) they offered me more money than any garage did, and I didn't want the hassle of selling privately. I sold them my late fathers Tuscon last year, as no local dealer wanted it, even though it was top spec with low mileage. Too much stock, and Brexit uncertainty.

They obviously knock money off for damage. But not like they used to. Before each scratch or chip would be £X amount off. But now, it's 3 slight chips per panel to be classed as a respray. Or is it 3 is ok, and 4th is respray? One of the two. Whichever, they are a quick and easy way to sell a car.

You could always sell privately, but that will probably mean getting the damage repaired. But you `should` get more money for it at the end of the day.

At the moment though, I'd have thought most garages, and even WBAC will be offering rock bottom prices. No sales, lots of unsold stock, and no income. Might be best to hang on to it for a few months till things get back to semi-normal.

I found Arnold Clark to give better prices that WBAC but less locations.

Not sure how they treat damage though as mine had none.

Try motorway.co.uk offered a fair bit more than WBAC. Very very easy. You upload pics and details, then get offers. Came and viewed and paid there and then with bank transfer and drove away
