Encountered a problem with the AWG this morning, 1st one i have had with it.

Drove home from work this morning and turned the ignition off to get out and open the garage door, jumped back in and usually it hasn't armed as im quite quick at this, went to start the car and it cut out (as the ghost usually does if armed again). Thought i wasnt that long but guess i must have been? (i wasn't). Put the code in again, got the flashes and went to start the car.....nothing. The usual warning was still up, turned off ignition again, turned back on and went to put the code in, it was at this point i noticed the warning was still up and nothing would shift it. Starting to worry now as maybe there is something really up with the car?

I remembered on the valve controller threads people were having issues and locking the car for a short period fixed these as a sort of soft reset, tired this. Still greeted with the warning and a firm brake pedal and no way of even starting the car. To google I went.......

Turns out its a known issue with the ghost and newer VAG cars as they had an FAQ for it. Thought i would link it in here in case anyone else has this issue. The 1st process is what fixed it for me, as soon as i put it in service mode the warnings disappeared and i could start the car.

Anyone else encountered this?

Yes, I had exactly the same issue as you several months ago. I also didn't know what to do, the 'ghost start errors' weren't on the Autowatch site at the time. I initially thought it may have been caused by a low battery, anyway by luck I managed to turn the ignition on and start the engine by standing on the brake pedal. This has only happened the once but I now carry the 2 processes on my mobile just in case.

I’ve locked myself out a few times, sometimes not sure why? Maybe I am just trying to put the code in too quickly. Easy fix with the service mode

Have you tried taking the key out of the ignition leave it for 20 seconds then retry again

Same prob here a few times, prob rushed the code then car cut out, wouldn’t start after the code correctly put in, had the indicator flash to acknowledge the code being ok, done the valet mode and it started.
I found when this happens then you just need to input your code wait for the indicator flashes then press the start button 3 or 4 times with foot on brake then it starts

Never had that with my AWG which I've had on 3 cars now.

I will give that a try if it happens again. Great bit of kit I think, nice knowing the car is going nowhere unless you put the code in or the car gets lifted
