Water spots

Hi guys, I hope all of you are well during these crazy times we live in.
Not posted on this side of the forum for awhile but seeking abit of advice please.
Car is coming upto 12months with the cqaurtz coating on and because the car lives outside all year round I’m looking to try a wax this time after some correcting work.
It seems that I’m getting a lot of water spotting from the rain and I’m wondering if the coating is perhaps causing this?

What’s your experience on this folks, will a wax work better?

Colour of car is sepang blue so they do show quite well.

Maybe it's because it's dry and quite windy outside? Dust gets blown onto car, rain comes, rain spots are now dusty rain spots?
My car was the same this week. Water spots everywhere. The previous time I washed it, it stayed clean for ages.

Coating needs maintenance, and after 12 month certainly will need a topper to restore its hydrophobicity and keep water spots off. As you are using quartz, I';d say give the car a good wash with a strong concentration of reset as a minimum, another good product is labocosmetica purifica. In both cases it will removes the limescale that has build up in your coating that causes water spotting. Ideal also use some tar remover and iron fallout remover as well. You should see the coating come back, and it should be very resilient to water spots. But adding a topper such as reload or hydro2 or elixir, or any other LSP you wish to try will do as well.

Another product to try is Koch Chemie FSE detailer, which removes lime scale, and water spots and rejuvenates coatings very well.

As you say it needs a correction, it will comes down to what you want going forward though - more ceramic, a sealant or a wax.

I'm not a fan of wax anymore, no need with the spray sealants now available, and pointless over a ceramic that should last more than 12 months really, bit some do enjoy the process, and to each their own.

I'm reluctant to pay a lot of money for it just to become dusty again...

In a word... no.

Nothing can stop dust, and any product that beads water and is allowed to dry in the sun is going to make your car prone to water spots. Keeping a protectant on your car to absorb some contamination (instead of your paint) and regularly cleaning the car it to remove it before it can etch into the paint is all you can do. The above mentioned FSE are a good way to maintain your car easily, remove spots before they etch and offer a little bit of protection if used regularly.

Thanks for getting back to me, it's good to know what to expect. The full valet would get rid of all the minor scratches, but not reduce the dust. Like you say, a regular wash will keep that at bay.

Btw, I used CarPro spotless recently and it was amazing!

I'll attach what I'd get with the full valet, I still think it's a great price to restore the paintwork.

Just washed the car today after a long while and noticed some horrible hard water spots. The water in very hard here and I think some water from the sprinklers got to the body and dried in the sun. Any ideas on how to get rid of them?

I use a quick detailer. Also wash and rinse a panel at a time to help and get the car dry as quick as possible
