Has anyone replaced a set of Xenon Headlights with Halogens before?

I know Kufatec do the adaptors to upgrade, but what about the opposite direction?
I have two cars and would like to swap the xenons across into my 08 car

Has any one done this? I'd like to leave the existing car with working headlights.

Can be done, are you swapping levelling & headlight washer system too?

In theory I can do. In practice it's if I can be bothered to go to that length.

Just wanted to know some one else has done the downgrade, I know it can change the setting in VCDS but I haven't looked at the wiring which is the hurdle I see

As I said can be done.

I'd do it as per factory, proper connectors & wiring.

I've a Kufatec loom sitting here if you need pictures. Might help backwards engineer a solution?

If you're selling the levelling system I'd be interested to hear what it's worth to you :)

Yes @Sidrick that'd be much appreciated

I have a second xenon car if you want any bits

So no Kufatec adaptors then?

Ideally factory would be the goal

I'm after as much of the levelling system as I can get :)

Thanks for that, I wonder if the connectors can be bought by themselves and can swap the pins over

As for the SL system, I’ve another full xenon car (red) so let me know what you want (and where it is in the car).

None of the xenon parts away yet bar the Lights themselves

Sorry to drift off topic but if you are breaking a setup I could use a headlamp washers pop out assembly, mine gets stuck out on a regular basis, well if you have one.

cheers

I'll drop you a PM to keep thread on topic

@NHN do you see any reason cutting the plugs off and soldering these replacements won’t work?

So it turns out these are Adaptive/AFS Xenons so I'm definitely going to the effort now to swap these over.

Question: Has any one removed the Self Levelling Wiring/Loom?

Is it even possible, or a purchase only option from Kufatec?

So just to say big thanks to @Sidrick for helping with the wiring info and making it painless.

I have a set of Kufatec adaptors already to upgrade my other car but are almost useless for downgrading as the individual wires are covered/wrapped and each of them are white so would have had to destroy the loom wrapping to identify them myself. So cheers.

Also turned out the replacement set of Lights I bought came with plugs cut and still attached. And so it turns out if you use the same connector from the same side the wire colours actually line up with the car's loom colours from the original factory loom which was also reassuring that what I was soldering was correct. All plugged back in working first time. So big cheers to @Sidrick for headsup giving me the confidence to cut perfectly good loom/connector out of the car!

VCDS did take a few attempts to get the codes right and errors out as one would not change and the Self levelling errors would not disappear but was resolved once I disconnected and removed the Headlight control module from behind the glovebox.

So car now successfully swapped down to halogens and no errors displayed.
