I had Pirelli P Zero Rossos on a 2010 A3 Sportback. Beautifully quiet tyre and no complaints about braking or wet weather handling, but I had to replace the fronts after just 14,000 miles of not particularly spirited driving. My tyre depot fixed me up with a harder wearing Pirelli - can’t remember which - and they were much better wear-wise.
I’ve just replaced the Bridgestone Turanzas on my A4. The fronts weren’t far off the wear indicators, but there was 4mm left on the rears. After just 3 years and about 22,000 miles they had all perished round the edges with cracks in the shoulders. Not an MOT failure and my tyre depot said that perishing is not dangerous all the while no cord is visible. However, after a few more miles I was not happy with the condition and the perishing on one of the rears was getting worse so I changed them for a set of Dunlop Sport Maxx SP2s. My wife has them on her A3 cabrio and after 19,000 miles they’ve worn well, they are not particularly noisy and handling is fine, so I thought I’d try them on my A4.
The other thing about the Bridgestones is that they were incredibly noisy. That was my reason for posting, but I got rather carried away with the perishing issue! It’s too soon to say whether the Dunlops are any quieter, but according to the label they are supposed to be 3 db quieter.
