My first detail(not Audi)

Since we are on lockdown I’ve been tidying up the house and my old computers and hard drives. came across some photos of my first detail in 2007.
my trusty old DA the original porter cable that ran at 110v which was a pain. 3 stage Sonus polishes and some good old fashion poor boys wax along with some other stuff like clay bars etc.

The stuff

after 2.5 days of polishing a quick coat of wax and tyres dressed.

Glad a lot of products have came a long way since. Some of the 1 stage polishes/compounds that’s breaks down to finer polishes/glazes are really good and saves so much time. Also taking better care of my cars now so not really necessary to machine polish cars.

need to find a new DA next. My porter cable has went missing after leaving in my mates garage.

Honda's paint/clear coat was and still is notoriously bad ...and very thin....and as such to getting results like above was indeed a job well done

Honda's paint/clear coat was and still is notoriously bad ...and very thin....and as such to getting results like above was indeed a job well done

jap paint is really soft so can work it very quickly and easily didn’t need the heavy compounds but easily scratches as well. I remember doing my mates Porsche and the paint was rock hard even the heavy compounds was making little impact.
Glad I take a bit better care of my cars now. Don’t want to be spending 2-3 days machining a car. Don’t have that kind of time anymore.

Wow I still have my PC which like you bought over from autopia with the big yellow converter. My one still going strong. I have not used it for some time and was gonna service it. It is fool proof but it does vibrate a bit!

Nice to have a memory like this to fall back, and it was a job well done.

I can’t lie....the white Quattro in the background got my attention!

if I remember right that Quattro was rotten, body looked good but rusty as hell underneath. Nice looking car though and worth a fortune nowadays.
