What have you done to your A3 (8p) this week

Already in order yep, but didn't want to leave it blank so the Chrome does it for now :).

I bought it of a Dutch company, but think they get it from eBay yep.

I'm looking for the foginserts with honeycomb aswell, do they even exsist though?
People just conver to rs3 front end so mever been demand for that specific part/mod

There’s honeycomb fog light covers for the pfl if that’s any use to you?
No as I own a facelift, thanks.

Makes sense for the rs3 conversion. I like the look of the S3 better though.

Anyway it's not for the near future, suspension upgrade first. Then bumper repaint and new grill :)

Yeah I don’t think you really need honeycomb on the fog light covers, they’re part honeycombed anyway, aren’t they

I’ve had my fog light covers painted black so they’re not that black plastic faded kinda look, goes with the honeycomb grille nicely

What’s suspension you going for mate?

looks good. nice weekend project for sure. you have orange peel effect on the paint. its fine and acceptable but you may want to try polish with a DA and then apply a nano coat to fill in the imperfections. I dont think you want to wet sand it

Hiya yeah I had to redo them after I dropped one when putting the final coat of lacquer on. They were flattened and then another lot of clear coat. I’m gonna give them a few days to cure off before flattening and polishing the trims on the car.

Did a mini service. Fresh oil and OEM filter. Dropped in a set of NGK platinum spark plugs that I picked up for £20 or so from eBay.

Also dropped in a new battery as the old Bosch one struggling.

Speak of battery, do I have to code anything?

Looks very clean. Is it plastidip? Did you take the bumper off? Can't wait to get rid of my chrome as well. Undecided on the rings.

Retrofitted Cruise control and MFSW buttons.
Worth the effort.

Nah just lock to lock the steering and drive it in a straight line and the esp light should go out. Reset the one touch windows and the clock and your set mate, you’ll have a few faults stored from disconnecting but it’ll be fine

Cool. I have VCDS but too lazy to hook it up. The steering warning is gone as I locked and drive it for a bit.

Well... For now it's electric tape :chuncky:.

Had nothing else at the moment on a sunday, going to look into fitting mesh into them and painting it with plastidip indeed.

Looks good but that gonna wither under weather conditions and peel upwards no better time than the pesent, take it off and spray it matt black or plastidip

you do know you can take the trim off on its own and replace with a black trim or best just to wrap it onces its off

I know, just wanted to see what it looked like, and it's much better than the chrome strip.

Haha yep, I know :).

Was looking for the ones with chrome and foglight insert, but they are hard to find secondhand in The Netherlands. They are €150,- new for a set, and thats a bit exspensive I think. Also looking into the S3 bumper because I think those inserts give a bit more "aggressive" look to the front if that makes sense :).

But unfortunatly, finding a S3 bumper with PDC and washer preparation second hand in The Nederlands is 1. veeeeeeeeeery exspensive or 2. non-existing.

So I think I'll stick with my A3 bumper and get my hopes up for some nice foglight trims :). The foglight trims for the MJ04-08 are everywhere but I want them facelift ones. Nevertheless, still on the lookout for a wonder S3 bumper haha.

So drove the car for a couple of shopping trips. The platinum spark plugs have made a noticeable difference. Car seems to respond faster and the fuel economy has gone up. As a reference, all previous spark plug changes were using OE Audi parts (Bosch).

I know I shouldn’t spend one more penny on the old dog but where did you source the new front end? The PFL front end always drives me mad with the ugly bumper stripes.

Bought myself an S-line diffuser, didnt took in mind I have a towbar so I needed to adjust the thing for it.
Got my grinding wheel and saw a bit off, it's not the nicest looking diffuser but keep in mind it's second hand and when it's under you can't really see the cuts :).

Bought the diffuser without the mesh inside, saw it costs like €400,- so that was a big no for me. I got myself some black leather and racing mesh and cut my own mesh in it :). Also got myself some nice doorcards for the reardoors, these have sunshades in them and doorhandle lightning. Coding the thing and voilla, another upgrade done :).

Roofspoiler will be placed next week as it's drying at this moment :D.

I finally got around to testing an idea. A little while ago I found a DAB system that works with the RNSE via the AMI. I also found out about tune2air for my phone. What with it being in the glovebox switching cables was gonna be a pain so I decided to wire in a second AMI and switch.

The results are ok just maybe need a bit of fine tuning down the road. I made another loom for the second AMI unit and ran the power for each unit through a 4 channel relay box I found online. Everything is on ignition live so when I turn it off or pull the key out the AMI in the glovebox is the default one.

For the minute though everything works and it also gave me a chance to change the carpet in my car as the original one is looking tired after 189,000 miles. I also had to modify the Bluetooth box but I had a spare anyway.
