Brave lad to solicit advice from strangers on the Internet. I'm with you, if you can afford it and want it then do it. You can't take money with you and I wish I had the cash (or had even finished uni) when I was 21/22 to get an RS3. When I got my first 2 pay packets in the bank I got the biggest loan they would give me and got a 3y old 8L s3. I loved that car and still get nostalgic for it. For me, a car goes well beyond being a possession and becomes part of a phase of my life that I enjoy attaching memories to. Still remember each nose around the new (at the time) R8 gen 1 when my s3 got its service and driving to my now wife's parents to meet them for the first time in it.
Plenty of time to buy a house or get a flat mate. If you can afford it and budget for repairs and maintanance then get it. For the love of god, enjoy it just don't drive it like a tit.

Yeah I doubt everyone in here that has an RS3 is a lawyer or a Doctor. £350 finance per month, insurance, fuel tires etc are not going to cost a Doctors or a lawyers salary. It really doesn’t matter what I do. My job doesn’t pay Doctors or Lawyers amounts, but I can still afford to save for a house, eat, live, and pay the bills for a nice car, and have some spare if it all goes tits up. Not a job that won’t be needed anytime soon so no worries there.
Don’t plan on driving it like a tit don’t worry. That’s what I like about, can poodle along and still sound like hell on wheels. Parents wouldn’t let me sign anything if they knew I couldn’t afford it.
Mate if your car is worth more than your monthly salary you really need to rethink things. Most of us here are Government Officials and Astronauts.

Yes it costs an arm an a leg to look after and the people here with cautionary tales are certainly well intended.
To be honest nobody knows where the current chaos is headed. All I know is that if we don't get back on with life at some point soon the outcome of a global economic financial collapse will be way worse than the ramifications of a virus.
So with that in mind enjoy your life and do what feels right for you. It truly is a special car to own, I've had mine for around a year and still feel like all my Christmases have come at once every time I get in it and fire it up. Make sure you get the right spec, I searched for a year to find mine and it was well worth waiting for the right one. Good luck!

It’s an awesome car mate and I doubt you’ll regret it (it’s sounds like you’ve done your sums financially).
I had a Mk4 R32 when I was 21-22 which was basically my dream car at the time, I’ve got such fond memories of owning it and I’m really glad I had the opportunity to do so at such a young age.
You’ll love the RS3 but as someone mentioned above get the right spec and don’t rush, that was the mistake I made with my PFL car, I got excited at the first one I viewed and had it, then realised how many extras I was missing out on! Made sure I didn’t make the same mistake with my FL car! Good luck

Do it, but as above be fussy with your spec and get what you really want, something will come up with what you are after!
Had my pfl a year or so now, was looking at some pre opf FL models as they are coming down in price now but at the lower end they all seem to be low spec.
At least the FL doesn’t have/need tech pack to get rid of that god awful standard screen. It’s only a minor thing but it really dates the interior and looks ****.

I’ve driven 1000’s of motorway mikes both here and across to France, 30-36mpg is wry easy to achieve that’s without using cruise control as I do not like it.
However early morning sprints and a track day your looking at single figures to low teens.
A very good all rounder
If I was earning a doctors or lawyers wage I would be looking at donetyabit more exotic than an rs3

I think I've done 261 miles on a full tank once. Most of that was motorway with a 50mph limit.
210 ish I think I get normal day to day driving. I don't do much motorway driving.

I put a full tank in on Sunday and managed to drive up to leeds with my mate and the back full of our tools weeks worth of clothing etc and got here on half a tank.
When I filled up the range was 380miles
Roads are very quite so it’s probably better to stick to the limits where you can as I’m sure the motorway cops probably have not much to do at the moment
My rs3 will be for sale at lloyd motors Blackpool when they get to reopen.
Again, get the spec you want, sports exhaust was a must for me.

Is your tank bigger than mine? I get 290 on the range display when I fill mine up.That’s still pretty good.

Mine always says 320 when I fill it up and I only get 220-240... it’s always very optimistic! I did a run to northern Scotland in my old PFL car last year and got nearly 400 miles out of a tank on the way back down

Like all things there is a time and place to be lead right footed mate.
Same, i'm lucky to get 20mpg smashing it around city roads. On a long motorway stretch I can get 30mpg
When I got the car the lifetime average mpg was 27 ... a few months after I owned it ... 22 ... as it should be

When i was 21 i bought a brand new EP3 Civic type-R, was it a lot of money for me..yip, do i regret it....nope. Its your money do whatever makes you happy with it, your only here for one shot.
