Looking for some thoughts on a technical issue starting to show on my car.

It's a 2018 (21 months old) 1.4 TFSI Manual BE Avant. 2 year PCH car so due back soon! Only 14000miles on it.

Anyway, during anything more than 'very gentle' acceleration in 3rd and 4th gears (not noticed in other gears yet, but might be present) the car seems to slip out of gear or something for a brief second. Revs become 'jumpy', jumps up the revs as if it's slipped out of gear (and numeric gear indicator goes blank) and then comes back to normal, gear indicator showing selected gear again. This can jump about like this for a few seconds or until I stop accelerating.

Anybody any ideas what it could be. Obviously car's still under warranty, but I know when it comes to clutch issues it's not guaranteed to be covered by warranty.

The key question here I think: Is it something the BCA collections agent is likely to notice on their drive back to a compound? Or is it something you only notice now because you’ve noticed it?

Exactly my thoughts. I think they'd notice tbh, but not a sure thing.

Other complexity is the car's due for collection in July, but serivce due at start of June according to indicator, so would possibly be caught at the service anyway. I would contemplate handing back early as not using it loads now, but no collections happening at moment. I am classified as a key worker, so could get Audi to look at it I guess, but not keen if it leads to a non warranty repair needed.

This sounds like your clutch is slipping, which is weird for a 14k car.

I think you’ve no option to have Audi inspect it as regardless of now or later they will spot it upon collection. At least now you‘ve got the initiative and can push on Audi saying this is not normal for the amount of miles you do.

I had something similar to this quite a few years ago and it just got worse and worse. It turned out to be a fraying clutch cable dragging on pedal release. It started off very subtly but got slowly worse, clutch slipping on gear change but only for 2-3 seconds. Just as I'd worked out what it was the cable snapped completely and clutch fully engaged again!
If that's the case on yours I'd say it's warranty stuff.

I don't think the clutch is actuated by cable...
Damn I was hoping you wouldn't notice:blahblah1:
Yes you're absolutely correct, I've just checked, the last cable A4 was the B7, so forget all that. I'll go back into Lockdown:grumpy:
